Okay i given the device a good review cause if it works it really does work great! I have had some bad luck, hope this one one last. - i had the vevosmart which the led died on me after 5 months - got the fenix 2 week after i got it the device went dead, but was replaced by garmin. - now on my 3rd garmin i really hope it last cause i really enjoy it and love some of the features it comes with pro it got a lot of features of which some of them you will never use it very accurate , and i like that you can use it for all your sports. Can link to phone gps build in Con The battery is not the best and can die on you it is bit bulky, so i can't use it with my motorcycle daily so have to keep taking it on and off when i put my gear on. Need a strap for heart rate doesn't do steps also no sleep ... Okay i given the device a good review cause if it works it really does work great! I have not seen the fenix3 but what i have seen of it i don't think it worth it unless you want the new features like step count and sleep monitoring to go with the device. This is a device for someone that does different kind of activities and want something for more than just running or swimming. I do gym weights with running and hiking so it works great for me. Over all i really enjoy the device, i don't care about the missing new features as i purely use it for my workouts for medical aid and for my self.

Solid waterproof GPS sports watch
If you want a rugged, waterproof GPS sports watch, you can't really go wrong with the Fenix 2. I bike with a Garmin Edge 500 but wanted a watch to use for swimming as I'm going to have a crack at my first Tri. Battery life appears to be excellent for everyday use, but it drops significantly when using GPS. The only criticism I have - based on limited use so far - is that it takes a few mins to acquire a satellite signal and is certainly not as accurate as my Edge 500. Fenix first edition is pretty good universal GPS watch. I bought it as a replacement for Garmin Forerunner 305. Having now some experience with Fenix I can say that this was not a good idea. As a sport watch Forerunner 305 is much more convenient to use. At the same time Fenix is much more universal. Although it is pretty fat (17mm high) one could use it as an everyday watch when GPS off. In this mode it needs recharge once-twice a month. Every time you switch on GPS the time is corrected, so the watch is very accurate. When hiking one could use the watch as GPS logger to log the hike courses, GPS on time is about 10-15h. It is possible to download Garmin style maps of small area about 50x50km, so one could use it as a navigation aide in the wild. The size of map is limited to less than ... Fenix has a number of navigation functions, one of most useful is the option to download courses that have been prepared on PC. So one could navigate even without the help of map, just following the track on screen. Fenix has electronic compass and barometer as well. For documenting my training activities I use old school Garmin software Garmin Training Center. It took a long time to figure out how to get the fitness data out of watch to programme in PC. The solution was to record running or biking data into .fit file and export that into Training Center. Ordinary hikes is more convenient to record into .gpx format. The most inconvenient for use as fitness watch is the difficulty to record laps, there is not dedicated key for this function. It is possible, but just inconvenient. In general, Fenix is very good device, especially for the price less than 150 USD.

Great Watch
At this price point you can't beat it. Way more features than a casio pathfinder and great battery life. The sync to an android phone is a little finicky but works once you figure out the order of syncing things. For just traithalons or running stick with 910 XS but for a watch that can do it all... this is a great buy. I'll be upgrading to the FENIX 3 at some point to take advantage of some of the newer features, but I liked this watch so much I even bought one for a friend...At this price point you can't beat it. Fenix 2 Purchase
I've had several Garmin training watches and devices. This one is really great but if you are a senior citizen like me, it is EXTREMELY difficult to set up and program. It took MANY phone calls to Garmin to get it working for me and a lot of patience! If you buy one, be ready to make a real time investment in setting it up with your preferences. I will say, the Garmin folks are easy and wonderful to work with!I've had several Garmin training watches and devices.
