Product Information

Lonely guy Frank Logan (Michael Keaton) meets cute with his addled neighbor, Kate (Kelly MacDonald), under a fallen Christmas tree, and these two bruised souls gradually begin to approach something like redemption under each other's caring eye. Of course they have their problems: Frank is actually a suicidal hitman and he's being stalked by an alcoholic cop (Tom Bastounes) with romantic designs on Kate, who he suspects saw Frank commit the murder he's investigating. Frank begins to plan another hit, but just when, why, or who maybe not even he knows. It's a remarkably promising directorial debut for Keaton (BATMAN, BEETLEJUICE) who shows a generosity and wisdom in letting the amazing Macdonald (Josh Brolin's wife in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) keep her Scottish accent and voice most of the dialogue in the film. A captivating screen presence, MacDonald gamely embodies an array of conflicting but complementary tics and emotions, which--like Frank's--are caught between the need to conceal the truth and the just-as-pressing need to express it. Bobby Cannavale (THE TEN) is good in his big scene as Kate's abusive cop-husband, and the ending is almost as surprising as the breadth of artistry Keaton shows behind the camera, making it a surprise sleeper all the way.

THE MERRY GENTLEMAN
I like anything Michael Keaton is in.He's one of my favorite actors in the biz.One Good Cop was probably my favorite of his. Aswell, as his contribution to the original Batman series.Those first two were great.I really like his role in Pacific Heights also.Just proving he can play anyone.And Quicksand along with Michael Caine was quite a good thriller.The Last Time with Brendan Fraser was also well done though Im not a big fan of Brendan Fraser.Thank you.I like anything Michael Keaton is in.He's one of my favorite actors in the biz.One Good Cop was probably my favorite of his. Michael Keaton's directing debut
I enjoyed this movie but my wife fell asleep and later complained that it "was too slow"! It certainly wasn't a fast paced film; but had an enjoyable style to it. Some of the diction was hard to follow as there was a fair ammount of mumbling! It was an enjoyable, unusual and very sensitive take on the old 'hit man falls in love' story. If you like Michael Keaton (and I do) you'll probably enjoy this delicate romantic movie.....I enjoyed this movie but my wife fell asleep and later complained that it "was too slow"! It certainly wasn't a fast paced film; but had an enjoyable style to it. Some of the diction was hard to follow as there was a fair ammount of mumbling! a Hitman befriends an abused woman~ 5 star~ great movie
PLOT: a depressed hitman befriends an abused woman~ both have so many secrets to hide. what a excellent movie~ I came across this in a sale bin and loved it~ a very depressed~Hitman Michael Keaton shoots his "target" and he decides to JUMP off the building ~ ending his "conflicting pain"~ but a woman looks up and screams haults his jump~ we find the screamer is reclusive Kate Frazier~ complete with black eye and scottish accent~ she is escaping her abusive cop hubby and looking for a new life~ When the Hitman aka Frank Logan~ seeks Kate out she has no idea who he is and ends up taking him to the ER~ when he is ill~ soon the 2 lonely people become friends but when the "abusive" husband shows up~ and ends up shooting himself~ a cop becomes suspicious Frank may have been 'involved'~ Kate ... Michael Keaton is very good as the HITMAN mysterious Logan and he also did a top job directing this~ I GIVE IT 5 OUT OF 5 FOR A QUIET MOVIE THAT CAPTURES OUR INTEREST and even though the plot is highly unlikley we are interested in both characters~ from the start to the end~

A FAIR WHO DONE IT
A VERY INTERESTING MOVIE WITH MICHAEL KEATON IN THE LEAD. SORT OF SLOW BUT HAS MANY TWISTS TO THE PLOT TO KEEP YOUR INTEREST. VERY GOOD STORY LINE. WORTH THE WATCH.
