  • Fast computer for data intensive usage.

I recently upgraded to Pro Tools 12 and needed a computer that keep up with the required minimum specs. It's an LE system but I'm constantly maxing out my track count along with running video simultaneously (I work in Post). The i7 is more than capable of handling the software and the 8GBs of RAM keep it from lagging and freezing up on me every two seconds (as was the case with a brand new i5 Mac Mini I bought but had to return as it was horrible at multitasking). This computer is fast can handle me doing multiple tasks at once. I also swapped out one of 4GB ram cards for an 8GB card, which thanks to the fact that this is a 2012 model, was simple and a breeze. The only drawback I've had with it is that the computer can get a bit warm fairly quickly. So far it hasn't proven to be ...

  • 2012 i7 2.6 1TB 16gb/RAM

My particular unit is a CTO (configure to order) i7 quad core 2.6GHz with 16gb of RAM. This machine screams! It also has a 1TB+ factory-installed fusion drive in addition to turbo-boost capability. As fast as this system is, I can't even imagine how exciting the 3.0 configuration must be. It's a shame that Apple chose to downgrade the Mac mini to a dual core processor after this model. IMO, this machine is the most outstanding and flexible mini to date. I was fortunate enough to get one at an unbelievably low price in nearly new condition. Please refer to the everymac site for more detailed info on this. They are an excellent source for all info on Macs.

  • Fusion Drive not set up properly

When I received the mini, the SSD and HHD of the fusion drive were shown as separate drives through finder, disk manager and on the desk top. I had had no experience with Fusion Drives in the past so I had no idea that it was a problem. I tried three or four different ways to migrate my data from my existing iMac to the mini but time after tiime there was not enough space according to ""Migration Assistant". I then resorted to manually installing the os on the SSD and manually moving other data files to the HHD hoping I could get them to work. After two days of this, I said to myself that it should be this hard to do. So I finally did some research on what a fusion drive is and how is is created and supposed to be how it's to be exposed to the operating system. After following the ...

  • Best Mac Mini year yet

The one I purchased was supposed to be an i7 quad core processor but turned out to be an i5 dual core. The seller made an adjustment to the price and it was still a good value. The late 2012 Mac Mini is, in my opinion, the best option for someone wanting a Mac with expandability options. It can take up to 16GB of ram and will hold two 2.5" hard drives. One with the i7 processor, a SSD and 16GB would handle almost any task you could undertake. I'm using mine as a media server and video streamer for my home entertainment center. It is capable of running OS Sierra and Windows 10 via Apples Boot Camp. This gives it several more years before it becomes obsolete.

  • Amazing upgrade for 2008 iMac

I was looking at 2015-2017 iMacs to replace my "obsolete" and very slow 2008 24" iMac (no longer supported with new OS, etc). I'd already done the simple things like maxing out the RAM, and it was time to move on. I was choking on the cost of new or refurbished 27" iMacs, so decided going a different route might be better. Found this mac mini with i7, dual 1 TB hdd's and the latest version that still allowed some user upgrades. I connected it to the 24" 1080p monitor I was using with the iMac (for dual display), and added a 27" 1440p for a dual monitor setup. It came with 8 GB RAM, and was noticeably faster to boot and much more responsive than the old iMac. I have $800 in this setup, less than half of what I would have spent for more recent iMacs, and probably have over 90% of the ...
