Timeless, Review or re-read for fresh insight
I saw the movie when it was first released. Jeannette Clift George and cast performed the material extremely well. If you have time, read the book also. Readers know from the outset Corrie Ten Boom survived to help write the book but it’s such an intriguing journey to get there. The authors include numerous jewels along the way, stories that stick with the reader long after the book is back on the shelf: the train ticket held by her father until the perfect time, the test of faith by not lying about family hiding under the kitchen table, the fleas having a purpose, the heartbreak of the love of her life marrying someone else, rebuilding the radio while in prison, the astounding respect and love for her father and sister while incarcerated. The lessons may be applied to every day life since these were not merely ‘characters’ but most obviously real people, with extreme trials to maneuver in life and in death. Ordinary becomes extraordinary, utilizing compelling subject matter with a page turning writing style exhibiting firm faith in the Lord. It’s one of those classics that affords readers immediate application to their own circumstances since they can identify with her and her family on so many levels. Finally a work like this inspires and uplifts. I found myself continually discovering the answer (Grace) on almost every page to such questions as “Why did God let this happen?” and “How did she do it?”. The Hiding Place is a classic I enjoy re-reading every few years. I’m amazed at the fresh perspective I have each time. It’s timeless. One of my favorite poetic verses from Corrie Ten Boom, who quoted it often (it was by Grant Colfax Tullar), is the following: "My life is but a weaving betwixt my God and me; I do not choose the colors He worketh steadily. Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside. Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly Will God unfold the pattern and explain the reason why. For the dark threads are as needful in the Weaver's skillful hand As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned."

DVD - The Hiding Place
I purchased "The Hiding Place" several years after I read the book by Corrie Ten Boom. I was so impressed by the struggles and intestinal fortitude shown by the Ten Boom's that it inspired me to read everything Corrie Ten Boom wrote. When I saw that the movie had been released to DVD I immediatly purchased the movie. Although the movie wasn't as good as the book (they never are), it was a very good movie. If you never read the book, it would fall under the "Excellent" rating. This movie shows that no matter what your hardship is (even being in a Nazi concentration camp), there is strength, hope, forgiveness and love if you believe with all your heart in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Just the fact that Corrie Ten Boom lived to be in her 90's and survived the concentration camps is a true ... I purchased "The Hiding Place" several years after I read the book by Corrie Ten Boom. I was hooked on everything she wrote from that point on. Imagine my surprise when one day on the back of the newspaper we received "The Stars and Stripes", was her obituary saying that she had passed away. I was so close to where she lived in Holland and had missed my opportunity. Don't let life pass you by! Buy the movie or book and and be ready to be inspired!!!

One of the best witnessing tools out there!
I love this movie. I have watched it over and over. I actually got saved reading her books and watching this. I thought I had been saved in 1970 but it was the easy-believism Gospel promising a perfect life and lots of goodies from God and happiness. That did not work! Her story let me know that I needed to repent as I was a lost sinner who had broken the 10 Commandments. Corrie knew that at 5 years old since her wonderful father told her about God's Law. This modern Gospel of peace and endless happiness is BUNK! It produces backsliders like me. This movie will help. I suggest a good dose of the LAW and repentace, turn away from sin and cling to Jesus with gratitude for the CROSS. This movie was the saving grace of my life. It led me to the Cross where I found my Savior waiting to forgive ... I love this movie. I have watched it over and over. I actually got saved reading her books and watching this.
