A seriously good piece of equipment!
This is a very good piece of equipment. I bought one to replace a virgin box as I watch mainly freeview and the chance of saving on the cost of cable tv was too tempting. I am not that familiar with tv technology but this is 1080p apparently and also HD, what I can say is that it did give me a markedly improved picture! The unit virtually sets itself up when you plug it in, it is straight forward to make recordings which are also of good quality. The only downside is no catch up tv, although if you get yourself a wifi dongle thing you can get iplayer and some other stuff via the Humax portal. I tried this as well, cost me less than £10 and mine works fine. You can also plug a hard drive in and play mp3 music through the stereo (done that too) and other more complicated things that I ... Excellent product
This HD receiver and recorder is vastly superior to my previous set top box. The menu system is arguably a bit complicated but is no problem once you learn to navigate it. Overall, this is an excellent product that works well with my Sony TV.

Best box I have owned and thoroughly recommend
Having had freeview boxes, sky hd box, virgin hd box and even virgins tivo box i think this Humax box has been the best it is so user friendly and a delight to use, it is very responsive unlike the tivo box and it all just works so well together. And the best thing about it is that there is no monthly subscription.

So far, can't really fault it, great product
Overall this is an excellent machine. Very occasionally it has stopped recording about 1 minute before the end of the programme, but that has not been enough to spoil anything. Easy to use and 500Gb is plenty of recording space for most people even in HD

excelent recorder bought from peter tyson excelent company to deal with . had a bad experirence with electronic bargains on ebay had to send the same recorder back was damaged called me a liar was miss selling and he dident pay posting to send back beware and still fighting for my refund from them cowboys in one word and there still on here its a joke trading standard are informed
