Arising from the same unholy concoction as its immediate predecessor in the series, Resident Evil 5 looks like a third-person shooter, plays like a first-person shooter, and feels like a survival-horror game. As in the acclaimed Resident Evil 4, an up-close, over-the-shoulder perspective allows players to see the heroes in action. Accessible aiming controls and fluid graphics make for quick, intuitive weapon use. Creepy settings, un-human enemies, and keen pacing create experiences of tense exploration, startling surprise, and overwhelmingly outnumbered desperation. The first in the Resident Evil series designed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game presents its horrors in high-definition, built on a custom-enhanced version of Capcom's MT Framework game engine. The story takes place in Africa, in the fictional desert country of Kijuju. The game is set about ten years after the events of the original Resident Evil, and features the original game's character Chris Redfield in the lead role. He is accompanied by a skilled mercenary named Sheva Alomar. The two work well together, and many of the most challenging situations in the game are best overcome with teamwork. When one of the two characters has been subdued or wounded, the other can "help" or "heal" with the press of a button. Other circumstances call for particular solutions, such as one player drawing enemies out of cover while the other picks them off with rifle shots from a safer location. Both characters are agents of a international group known as the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (or BSAA), on a mission to investigate the origins of the nefarious Tyrant virus, variants of which have been responsible for turning ordinary people and animals into mindless, zombie-like killing machines throughout the Resident Evil series. The game's levels are a mix of spooky, scripted runs and open-ended battles that develop dynamically. Although facing surprise attacks and overwhelming odds, a run-and-gun approach won't last; it takes situational tactics and good ammo management to make it through each stage. Online multiplayer co-op is available throughout the game, in which one player controls Chris and the other controls Sheva. The Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5 includes two new scenarios. "Lost in Nightmares," also available as a downloadable add-on pack, puts players in control of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they infiltrate a secret mansion headquarters for a face-to-face confrontation with Ozwell E. Spencer. In the scenario "Desperate Escape," players guide Josh Stone and Jill Valentine on a mission to rendezvous with Chris and Sheva. Similar to the PS3 version of the title, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for Xbox 360 also includes access to eight new characters for play in the game's "Mercenary" mode. The Xbox 360 edition includes a token that allows players to download all four available add-on packs, each containing two characters and additional costumes.

Not as great as some other versions, but still gives hours of entertainment
I love the RE series, and would have given this 5 stars, but I think that RE 4 and RE Revelations are far superior. I like the fact that you can pull up a real-time map of the area so you're not lost in mazes and the game allows you to set your weapons in a cross pattern within the 9 boxes of items you can have so you can quickly access them with the up/down/right/left button on the controller. The graphics leave a little to be desired, but I think that's because it is a little older than contemporary games. Be careful if you buy this used as the disc itself is identical to the RE5 regular edition. It comes with a coupon in the disc case that allows you to download the additional adventures free of chars. However, if you already have RE5, you can get the same additions through Xbox ... I love the RE series, and would have given this 5 stars, but I think that RE 4 and RE Revelations are far superior. Capcom still has done a good job continuing the saga of this still popular series. If you can get it used, do it as I wouldn't plunk down the full retail price for this one. I would rather spend the money for RE4 and Revelations.

Great Game
We have all the Resident Evil games for PlayStation. I decided to buy this one for my daughter. She absolutely loves it.

Resident evil 5 amazing.!!
I bought this game because I heard of how good it was. Well i would like to say that it is the best horror survival game i have played. Everyone should play this, it's a cheap game about $20 and it's a good deal. There were 3 new DLC's (downloadable content) that came out. The graphics were spot on, very good, the control is amazing, Chris and Sheva were detailed perfectly. But one thing is that when your playing solo as chris or sheva the computer decides to act a bit stupid once in a while. They won't move to the spot where you want them to move so sometimes there will be continuous deaths. But other than that the coop part is amazing. When people come and join your game it's the best. Also the xbox 360 community that play re5, are very helpful and they would help you start the game out ... I bought this game because I heard of how good it was. When you want to play the versus dlc that one is a bit hard. But on the retail version of re5 the achievements aren't hard. I am about 1 achievement away from getting 100% on retail version. Which is the first 50 achievements for re5. The game's difficulty are pretty easy until you unlock professional mode you like die in one shot, but can survive most. BUT YOU WILL NEED A REAL PERSON PLAYING THE COMPUTER WILL CONTINUOUSLY KEEP DIEING!!! This is my review of RE5, Hope you like it and buy the game. Good Luck.

Resident Evil 5 is sexy as hell!!!
This game is an amazing game that is perfect for co-op play online. Resident Evil 5 is sexy and fun! You can do co-op campaign with a friend online or mercenaries mode which is my favorite! The gold edition is good for those who haven't bought the game yet and offers extra downloadable content. If you already have RE5 just download the extra content over xbox live or psn.
