I was looking for a larger megapixel camera than what I had prior to this camera. (8mp) This Easyshare Z1085 Kodak camera is not as expensive as many with the same features and even has a few more features many other do not have. I give it a good plus or excellent minus for a rating. Bad points: This Kodak Z1085 camera, for me, only had one drawback.. the noise. It has a whirring sound as soon as you turn it on, not real loud but there just the same. At first it was very distracting and annoying; however, after using it several times, I can now ignore the sound knowing what the result of taking pictures with it will be. Good Points: The quality of the pictures more than makes up for the slight noise. The Macro could be a little closer. You must be at least twelve inches away from the ... Recently when we went to the theater, it picked up in very low light just what we were seeing on stage. There is also a museum mode, again with no flash, great for not disturbing other people while enjoying and looking at great items. There are 16 total modes in addition to video with sound on this model. Some of my other favorites are the: fireworks, candlelight, self portrait, snow, even nightime has 3 different modes. The battery lasts a LONG time. I purchased a couple extra rechargeable batteries just in case I needed them for a recent wedding and a birthday party. So far I have only needed one battery per event. My last camera ate batteries so quickly it was scary, this camera does not. This is a BIG thumbs up for this camera in addition to the great pictures. I also like that the batteries are RECHARGEABLE instead of having to purchase batteries constantly and throwing them away when they go dead. It it lightweight, easy to carry and use. So, overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this camera on picture quality and battery useage alone.

I was looking for a camera for my daughter who just had a child. Figured this would be a nice camera for her to catch some shots of my new grandson. As far as the functionality of the camera, it's great. Records in HD and transfers easy. All in all a very good camera. The only thing I didn't like was the battery. With technology the way it is now there is no reason to include a non rechargeable battery. They're not very expensive. In fact, you can find a charger and battery on ebay for under $10 which I did. So this dislike is no longer an issue especially since I had $8.98 in ebay bucks. I ended up paying $1.01 for the rechargeable battery. The camera is as expected and appears to work great BUT I expected it to use rechargeable AA NiMh batteries-WRONG!! The lithium batteries are 3.7 volt and the size is a little different than regular AA batteries. Nice if the manufacturer would mention this other than "alkaline batteries are not compatible". Oh well just Kodak trying to sell their batteries, just have to make the best of it. Kodak Easyshare Z1085
Great little camera, easy to use. Still need directions for some of the features. Only thing, when it gets too cold, it won't work. Safety feature? Maybe, but very inconvenient at the time. Would recommend this camera to one who is looking for something inexpensive, ready and easy to use.

This is the second camera of this model that I own. The first one is still chugging along fine although I thought it had died before I purchased this one. (Apparently I had one of the two double a batteries in wrong) At any rate, I have two fully functioning cameras now. I've always placed a lot of confidence in Kodak products and even though digital caught them by surprise, they rebounded well. The only misgiving I have about the Z1085is is the lack of an optical view-finder. I solved that by gluing a Pana-Vue slide viewer to the camera's digital screen, (Had to cut out the opaque screen) I kept it removable so that I can shoot either way, through the digital screen or through the pana-vue viewer. (the Pana-Vue also eliminates glare while shooting in bright sunlight. One last note: This ... This is the second camera of this model that I own.
