The Samsung S85 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 8.2 mega-pixel CCD. This allows the Samsung S85 to produce even better images and take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. In addition, the Samsung S85 has a 5x optical and 5x digital zoom giving 25x total zoom when combined.With the Face Recognition AF&AE function, the Samsung S85 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily. The function detects faces and automatically focuses on them; the brightness of the faces is adjusted optimally for beautiful portrait pictures.Fast ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color which is sometimes found in flash photography. With Fast ASR the effects of image blur are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well exposed, sharper pictures in low light conditions without using a flash at all, which guarantees brighter and more natural pictures.Even when camera shake has been eliminated, a fast moving subject can cause the image to blur. The S85 supports ISO 1600 high sensitivity to give you super clear pictures with just the right amount of brightness, even when taking moving subjects under less-than-perfect lighting conditions.The Samsung S85 has a 2.5" LCD with improved contrast and color reproduction for easy image framing and reviewing.With the Face Recognition AF & AE function, the Samsung S85 enables the user to take better portrait pictures more easily.     Simple and elegant

    This camera does not have the highest resolution but it's simple to use and has a great zoom. I like the fact it uses standard AA batteries instead of specialized batteries and a standard memory SD card instead of micro-SD which then need adapters when transferring to your computer, etc.

    Excellent Camera - Beware of Potential Lens Problem

    The Samsung S85 is a very good camera except for a lurking lens problem. If a tiny bit of particulate matter gets into the extending lens mechanism, the lens will fail to extend. The camera will give three warning beeps and then shut off. I've even seen a low battery warning just before the camera shuts off. To repair the stuck lens is cost prohibitive. What I like about this camera is that it has Macro capability - And Also SUPER Macro Mode. It will focus to one centimeter (10mm). There are several color modes. Standard, B&W, Sepia, Red, Green, Blue, Negative plus Custom Color. It is the Negative function that intrigued me. I have only found the negative function on Samsung cameras. It might exist on other cameras but I have not found any in the price range of the S85 or S730 line of ...

    Hard to replace but well worth it!

    This is the third of this model I have owned now. The first was inherited but I could not repair the lens sticking problem and replaced it with another used camera. That one developed the same problem after a few years, so I had to replace that one now with this one. I think this one is in the best condition and look forward to using it. This little camera is just right for me as I can see the features on top and easily manage the functions on the back side. I was fortunate to find this on Ebay.

    Fantastic do-it-all camera.

    This camera can do just about anything you want it to do and you can pick one up on ebay for a bargain. Though only rated as a 5X zoom, this thing can zoom and zoom and stays clear and detailed well into it's digital zoom range; this is very rare. The low light ability is OK. The video on this camera is 640X480 and is very smooth. What I like about it is you can use the optical zoom during video capture; this is rare in an older camera. Plus you can pause the videos, and start them back up again where you stopped without creating multiple movie files. This camera takes excellent, big, clear pictures. Some lighting conditions give it some trouble, but overall it is a fantastic do-it-all camera.
