This book should be in your fly tying library, period!
A fly tying gem! The authors illustrations are awesome. I've never seen better explanation and illustrations of feather structure. Illustrations of several fly tying techniques for both right and left handed tyers is unique. A very good selection of fly patterns. The illustrations in this book, alone, are priceless. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this book. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is that the materials and products discussed are somewhat dated. If you have a fly tying library, like I do....this book will enrich it greatly.A fly tying gem! The authors illustrations are awesome. Great first book!
A must have for the Beginner and Advanced Fly Tyer. It is well written with explanations as to the why and the how of tying flies, even shows how to make some of your own tools used in fly tying. 5 Stars in the fly tying manuals by taking the beginner from nothing to knowing how to tie a complicated fly and showing the advanced tyer a trick or two. Highly recommend to have on your self with your other books or your first book to learn fly tying. Ed WingfieldA must have for the Beginner and Advanced Fly Tyer. It is well written with explanations as to the why and the how of tying flies, even shows how to make some of your own tools used in fly tying. 5 Stars in the fly tying manuals by taking the beginner from nothing to knowing how to tie a complicated fly and showing the advanced tyer a trick or two. Perfect introduction for novice fly tyers
I bought this book just a few weeks after buying a fly tying kit because the instructions with the kit were quite hopeless. Adventures in Fur, Feathers and Fun is not only incredably well written and informative but also illustrated my an exceptional draughtsman. If like me you are looking to start tying your own flies this will certainly help you on your way.
