    Great to have

    These are great to have but if you have to count on this to get where your going, you don't need to be driving. You still should have a map with you. I still use mine & not the Navigation that's in my truck. These give you the speed limit always helpful when Ur on an unfamiliar road. Garmin made great fish finders for years, so you can't go wrong with a Garmin GPS. DO your research before you buy anything. One cool thing I found out is while your at home planing a trip, you can go to MapQuest & plot your route. Now MapQuest gives you the option to send what you did to your GPS. Back to the Garmin. I like it. I'm old school & use to drive 2 lane black top. It kinda takes the adventure out of a journey. If your in the market I would recommend it. Be smart & don't leave it in ...

    No Frills... But Works

    I bought this GPS for the built in FM that allows it to update w/ real time traffic. Unfortunately it still takes me on a route backed up with traffic despite there being quicker alternatives. However, I've used this for several road trips and it hasn't left me stranded yet. Finds GPS Signal quick and does a pretty good job staying on track. If you need a basic GPS that's reliable, stick with a Garmin.

    Nuvi 255w Good device for minimal cost

    This model is a great bargain for the used price. It has multiple voices and modes to guide your travels. It can seek out hospital, fire and police stations. I updated mine with 2015 maps and see you need to step up in models. Almost forgot, a new battery is really cheap on ebay ($6)

    Best for the money

    Of course its old. New streets can be missing but a lot of streets are also old. This is that these dedicated small Nuvis are fast and simple and very small. I know... phone. But phones for nav is not really good compared to a dedicated device and after all you might me on the phone. Really nice for motorcycle and if it drops.... eh get another.

    2 good 2 be true

    We needed a way to find many things when we travel. This Garmin nuvi 255 has an up to date map, verbally tells us if we are on the wrong path & to turn around, gives verbal instructions to turn before we have to, so as to be prepared to do so, and is quite easy to use, VERY user friendly. We used it for the 1st time on a recent business trip, during heavy snow, & were extremely confident, even in the slow travel, knowing that Garmin would not let us down. This device will also inform you of restaurants & gas stations on your trip, plus points of interest. Let me tell you, it felt so good to trust this Garmin which was affixed to our windshield & could be easily seen. It came with everything needed. We did not have to buy anything else.
