Finally on DVD
The Sci-Fi Channel's The Invisible Man finally gets a long overdue release on DVD, and be glad that it has. Arguably the best, original show to ever grace the network, The Invisible Man stars Vincent Ventresca as Darien Fawkes, a con-man and thief that undergoes an experiment upon getting captured and put in jail. The experiment involves a gland imprint in his brain that allows Fawkes to turn himself invisible, and after his agent brother is murdered and betrayed, Fawkes sets out to avenge his death, and battles assassins and other enemies in the process. He gets teamed with Agent Hobbes (Paul Ben-Victor), which provides some of the best moments of the series, which is frequently entertaining and even surprisingly innovative for its time. One of the SciFi Channel's Best
This show has everything: quirkiness, action, drama, comedy, character development and, though it's a superhero fantasy, it has real science fiction elements. Darien Fawkes, a thief, is offered a pardon for participating in an experiment run by his brother and a Frenchman named Arnaud, a thorn in Darien's side. When he wakes from surgery, Darien can will himself invisible due to an implant producing "Quicksilver". The down-side is that Quicksilver produces insanity without a counteragent, a tweak by the military who funded the project to guarantee that their prize lab rat won't use his invisibility to further his felonious ways. The secret base is attacked, his brother killed and when rescued, Darien finds himself working for secret US Department of misfit spies, indentured to pay off ... Now Darien has to learn to control his invisibility, to adapt to being trapped by his need for the counteragent, and to cope with his fear of losing his mind. The question of whether Quicksilver is a curse or a blessing, learning to be a spy from an eccentric expert with PTSD & paranoid issues, the growing respect of the partners and the team for each other, tracking the source of the attack on the base and discovering who killed Darien's brother -- all play out against action-driven episodes of espionage and villains worthy of a superhero. What I like best about this show, is that despite it's quirky characters, irreverent tone, lol moments, and mandatory chase/fight scenes, the story never devolves into slapstick, formula or camp. The episodes always retain a trace (and sometimes more) of serious underpinnings, real emotion and thought-provoking questions. It's also some of the best buddy-show tv in recent memory and has two very appealing leads in Vincent Ventresca and Paul Ben-Victor, who never let their characters become caricatures, no matter how comedic or over-the-top the script. The only thing wrong with this incarnation of H.G. Wells' Invisible Man is that there isn't more of it: SciFi canceled it after only two seasons. Season One is available on DVD now, and you can bet I'll be watching for Season Two.

Short lived scifi classic
This show was one of the only shows I can remember being on scifi that actually was not that bad. I was hopping that it would have lasted longer than two seasons, but that seems to be how networks run shows lately. Give this show a chance and relive the old days when scifi was just getting started. On a side note they have never released the second season on dvd or bluray in the us so don't bother looking if you want the second season on region 1.This show was one of the only shows I can remember being on scifi that actually was not that bad. Cancelled before it's time.
The Invisible Man is one of the greatest original shows to debut on the SciFi network, along with Farscape and the new Battlestar Galactica. It was canceled prematurely due to cost and bickering between the SciFi channel and, then owners, the USA network. The characters are very likable and the show balances humor and drama, also with a good dose of intelligent writing. I really recommend this show.The Invisible Man is one of the greatest original shows to debut on the SciFi network, along with Farscape and the new Battlestar Galactica. It was canceled prematurely due to cost and bickering between the SciFi channel and, then owners, the USA network. The characters are very likable and the show balances humor and drama, also with a good dose of intelligent writing. I really recommend this show.

Not to serious, love the banter
This show was amazing and I was so sad when they canceled it, The chemistry between the main characters was so great and funny, and the characters themzelfs were so well developed.
