This book brings them vividly to life again; it is an unvarnished field report from the American postwar underground. For this definitive 50th-anniversary edition, eminent Burroughs scholar Oliver Harris has painstakingly re-created the author's original text, word by word, from archival typescripts. Here for the first time are Burroughs's own unpublished Introduction and an entire omitted chapter, along with many "lost" passages and auxiliary texts by Allen Ginsberg and others. Harris's comprehensive Introduction reveals the composition history of Junk 's text and places its contents against a lively historical background.

    Junkie is a good easy read and quiet funny.William S Burroughs 1st book 1953

    Have not read this actual copy, but I have read Junkie 1966 Olimpia Press version.

    It would have been better if the book which I had thought was the UK b 50 aniversary edition, but it was the US version.So unfortunately I don't know what to say about the whole ordeal to be honest.

    great book!

    I love evrything from this book. My way of life used to relate to his in the book. Great book that should be read, that is if you're not a right wing radical or a straight edge. One of the few books I have read.

    Excellent book.

    This book singularly changed my life. I recently gave my old copy away, so I needed a replacement. I think that "Uncle Bill's" perspective on the "Junky" way of life is very innovative and beautiful. I recommend it to everyone I come in contact with. :D
