Great addition to my library.
Great book for Eight Air Force buffs. My dad and I followed the Mighty 8th and went to the Air Force Museum to see the Sho Sho Baby. Unfortunately my dad passed away before the Memphis Belle was restored she's a beautiful bird. This book brings back all those good memories we had as we shared our love for the 8th.

England Should Remember
Remarkable look back to those little (HUGE!) parts of England which were taken over by the American Air Crews during the War - and what they look like now. Allows for a glimpse into how our men and boys lived in their "homes" to which they were very grateful to return after their missions over Germany. Not much left now, but that in itself is a peak into the British themselves who were thrust into co-existing with the Americans - who were a pain but gratefully needed in this part of England. The memorials erected by the English speaks to how much they might have griped about these boys taking over their country - they were gratefully appreciative of what those "boys" did for them. Having lived during WW2 Iam reminded of the difficulty of getting current news from the war. Newspapers were slow and edited by military regulations and 'Movietone News'was two weeks behind. This book was written in 1983. It is primarily a look at the 8th Air Force effort against Nazi Germany from airfields in eastern England. Having worked with many of these Vets,I found that they never talked in the detail like this book does.Anyone having an interest in warbird aviation, this is one of the 'must read historical classics'.You can feel the that you were there in person.Having lived during WW2 Iam reminded of the difficulty of getting current news from the war. one last look, kaplan, smith
Undoubtably the finest assembly of WWII 8th Air Force photos and memories. It is also packed with fascinating facts such as the usage of 867,564,117 imperial gallons of gas, and a summary of operations from 1942-1945. Hard book to put down, and once put down will certainly be picked up again, time and again.
