Product Information

Lost in Shadow is a single-player platform adventure, with a rich ambiance and an unusual play mechanic, based on light and shade. While the game is set in a three-dimensional world, it is played in the two-dimensional plane of the shadows cast by objects and characters. To solve puzzles, players can adjust the angle of the light source, changing the sizes and shapes of the shadows. Players take the role of a brave young boy -- or rather, the severed shadow of a brave young boy -- who is making his way to the top of a dark tower, on a desperate quest to free the lost souls trapped within and save his own life. The silhouette hero is not held down by gravity, but he cannot move through the shadows of other objects. His fairy companion, a butterfly-winged sylph named Spangle, sheds light and shifts the shadows, to open passages or create walkways over gaps. In addition to the unique platform puzzle challenges, the boy faces assaults by shady monsters that inhabit the tower, and he must battle past them with weapons he finds in his journey.

Worth playing, but isn't perfect.
I first discovered this game on Amazon while looking through other games. It instantly caught my eye because it reminded me of Ico, which has always been one of my all-time favourite games. I'm constantly looking for games similar to Ico, so when I saw this I knew I had to give it a try. If you're a fan of Ico I'm sure you will notice, as did I, several similarities throughout the gameplay. For example; the boy is stuck in the tower much as Ico was trapped in the castle. You also fight shadows, just like Ico. That being said, I had a lot of fun with this game. It takes a level or two to get used to looking at the shadows instead of the physical objects. I died a few times in the beginning forgetting I couldn't step into the physical world. Once I got the hang of it, however, I enjoyed it ... As much as I enjoyed the game though, I find it was still a bit lacking. I found myself wanting more out of it as I progressed through the levels, but I was never rewarded. The ending added to this disappointment. After feeling triumphant and like you accomplished so much, the ending just waltzes in and slaps you smack in the face, leaving you with the feeling that you did everything for naught. Perhaps in my mind I'm comparing it too much to Ico, which it could never live up to, and that's why I'm being so harsh. For what it's worth though, I still think it was an enjoyable game, but it had so much potential to be better. I still would recommend it to anyone who enjoys puzzle or platformer games though, because it is an interesting concept.

An extremely well made puzzle-platformer.
One of the greatest hidden gems of a video game in the past 20 years. If you like the puzzle-platformer genre of games, get this. Trust me. The story is lacking, but that's not why people who love these types of games play them. It isn't cumbersome to be a completist with this game, and get 100% on everything.

Amazing little-known title ..... one day it will be a classic!
This game is so unique and fun! The levels are great and keep you guessing. The graphics are simple yet beautiful! This gem is gonna be a difficult to find once everyone figures out they missed one of the best games on the system!

lost in shadow and the butterfly man named John

taking 3d platform games to the sky
first of all, watch the game's trailler. if you got your breath taken just like i did, then you know you should buy this game. if you don't have the time to do it or just want to read a buyers oppinion, let me tell you that this game is so good i had to unplug my wii console from electricity in order to go back to study (i'm finishing college this semester and have a huge work to deliver till june). good looking graphics and a mind tripping experience for all of those who didn't believe 3d platform games couldn't be so awesome.first of all, watch the game's trailler. if you got your breath taken just like i did, then you know you should buy this game. if you don't have the time to do it or just want to read a buyers oppinion, let me tell you that this game is so good i had to unplug my wii console from electricity in order to go back to study (i'm finishing college this semester and have a huge work to deliver till june). good looking graphics and a mind tripping experience for all of those who didn't believe 3d platform games couldn't be so awesome.
