If a film could have a split personality this is it.
This film has more pros and cons than a prison for women. First of all; the plot-not great, but good. Second; the location-great, lots of beautiful buildings. Third; the cinimatology-fantastic. Fourth; the acting-mediocre, except for Jessica Harper shining on. Fifth; the English overdubbing-dull and lethargic. Sixth; the direction-bad. Seventh; props-unbelievably stupid in places, especially the ones that were supposed to be animated. Eighth; lighting-a bit strange in spots, but I liked it. It was a real story and probably would have been fun to read, but in the translations and dubbing it got silly. Like I said, the phony animal bits were laughable phony, but it lumbered on to a rather good climax. I'll watch it again just for the lighting and Jessica Harper's brilliant performance, ... MAYBE I DON'T GET DARIO ARGENTO, IDK
It may be that this movie is of the older genre but it seemed kind of boring to me. I'm not a kid, I am a 56 year old woman who has seen a lot of movies in her time. This movie might have been a bit better if I saw it in Italian with English subtitles, but it was in English. The dialogue seemed a bit stilted and the acting was force. The plot was a good plot, overall, but it doesn't seem to have been acted out that way.. It wasn't scarey at all. Maybe I don't get Dario Argento directing, idk. Loud and obsure
This is a horror or terror movie. It fails in a way a lot of these movies do. A lot of action happens in darkness, making it difficult to follow. I'm not afraid of what I can't see or understand, at least in a film. This film also has a lot of jarring discordant noise, which I think passes for the producers as music. I found this film more annoying than entertaining.

Suspiria
I love unique, underground horror movies so I decided to check out Suspiria by Dario Argento. I liked that the movie was packaged well so it didn't have any damage done to it. The movie was great because it also came with a bonus dvd with extra features which was great. I can't say too much about disliking it. I will say though that director Lucio Fulci absolutely nails horror while Dario Argento just does it ok.
