Oversee life from its simplest form to its most complex in Spore, designer Will Wright's first original game since 2000's The Sims. As a microorganism on a new world, you must survive and thrive in your liquid environment by darting back and forth, feeding, and avoiding potential predators. Absorbing food such as plankton or algae during your formative days also allows you to absorb the DNA necessary to evolve into a terrestrial animal. Similar to a role-playing game, Spore lets you customize your being in an assortment of ways, with swappable body "parts" influencing attributes such as speed, strength, and so forth.<br><br>While you are encouraged to tinker around with your creature and its environment, the game's underlying structure involves progressing through five distinct phases: cell, creature, tribe, civilization, and space. Good game but...
PROS: Creature and Vehicles sandbox is AMAZING! Very user friendly Accessible Interesting evolution stages Excellent for children Lovely Design CONS: Limited multiplayer Shallow gameplay of each genre (Not for any really hardcore gamer) Short (unless you are in the mood for replaying it with another creature look or nutrition tendency) DRM (digital rights management) Only can install it 3 times. Damn you EA! Overall Thoughts: The 5 evolution stages are an interesting mix of Pacman, The Sims, Black & White, RPGS, RTS and Civilization. First 4 feel like an introduction mode to other games of the genre which is perfect for children or Really Newbies. The only unique one is the Galactic Stage which is interesting while it last. ok, ya, the 3 limit sounds bad. BUT read the advantages too! You don't have to use the disk while playing anymore, just for the first load. And its not 3 loads, its 3 computers! Once the game is registered to a computer, it is always registered to that computer, until you call them for a reset. You can format and reload it onto the computer with no decrease in uses of the disk. The advantage here is, and I have had it happen, you are playing the game one day, and damage the disk. You can play it without having to buy a new one! Also, if you have 2, 3 computers, you can play on all at the same time, which is great if you have kids! You can't do this if you need to keep the disk in. Its a trade off yes, but I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Oh ya, the game rocks too! ... ok, ya, the 3 limit sounds bad. Spore: Galactic Edition - Worth Buying Used
I'm a big fan of the "Sim" products, so the idea of Spore was really attractive to me. Unfortunately, I have found it to be very limiting as a game. It's worth what I paid for it at auction, but I certainly wouldn't go out and pay the listing price on a new copy. Each realm of play has a particular set of goals and particular means for reaching those goals. Your choice of whether and how to pursue the goals creates a profile for your game, and this determines your gameplay options for future actions in the same game. Nice concept, just a little clunky in how it works out. The most irritating thing? You can't save your game once you reach the galactic portion of the game. Probably not a popular choice for hard-core Creationists, and probably not a popular choice for hard-core Evolutionists either. Nice blend, and fun game.

This helps you to define this creature as your own. It's not just a human body with different face and texture options, it's truly your own creation. Additionally, the creation of buildings, vehicles, and space craft is just as imaginative. There are just so many options. The replay value is pretty good. Dislike: The game is somewhat short. Each part of it, Cell, Creature, Tribal, Civilization, and Space are fairly short with exception of Space. In reality, the game is an artistic outlet where you can use your ... In reality, the game is an artistic outlet where you can use your "art" (creatures) in mini-games that somewhat resemble pac-man, first person shooter, real time strategy, slightly more intricate real time strategy, and role playing adventure/real time strategy (respectively). Also, there are TONS of problems with getting the game running for Mac. They seem to be extremely common. I had to re-install it on my computer about 6 times just to get a good install. Took over 8 hours before I could actually begin to play the game. This game is DEFINITELY worth every cent if you have a good imagination, slight art skills, and enjoy a simple (yet still somewhat challenging) game. It will give hours upon hours of entertainment if you are creative enough. Little tip for those who choose to install on a Mac. After installation it will ask you to download some patches (at the moment there are 5). CLICK "NO" and it will proceed to asking for your registration CD-key, fill that out. Make sure the game will run. Then, close the game and re-open it. Say yes to the download of the patch. After the first one is installed, it will ask to download the next one. CLICK "NO" again! Make sure the game runs (again), then close it and re-open it again. REPEAT THIS PROCESS UNTIL ALL 5 HAVE BEEN INSTALLED, making sure to check if the game will run after every patch is installed separately. If you do not do this, you run a very high risk of being unable to play the game when all the patches are installed at once. EA isn't very good with Macs, but do well with PCs - so until they get better Mac services, this time consuming process will have to be taken by most Mac users.

Awsome. Its really worth every penny
Although i haven't gotten a chance to play Spore yet, i have watched lots of videos on Youtube doing research on how to play the game. To me it seems like this game was created for me, because i love the fact that you can make your own alien that , in time, evolves into your own personal, stereotypical alien race. There are essentially 5 different stages in the game: Cell, Creature, Tribal, Civilization, and Space stages. Each one completely different than the other (Tribal and Civilization stages are quite the same)making this game worth every penny. its also released a few little expansion packs as well, giving you an endless amount of creativity as you evolve your alien race to supremacy.Although i haven't gotten a chance to play Spore yet, i have watched lots of videos on Youtube doing research on how to play the game.
