Some good songs with weak vocals.
This album is similar in quality of songwriting and musicianship to the Stone's three prior album. None of the songs provoke groans, but after a few listens there were only a few songs I wanted to listen to again or make me want to go to one of their concerts to see them perform the song live. Mick Jagger's vocals sometime go over the top and detract from the songs -- kind of like he's singing the songs with a "look at me, I'm a ROCK STAR" attitude. This modulating style of singing started with Goats Head Soup, became the norm with It's Only Rock N' Roll, and persists through every album since. It gives their albums since Exile a quality of smugness. This style went okay in the age of disco (e.g., Some Girls), but detracts from rock songs and ... the rolling stones-bridges to babylon
good album/cd. i bought this because i saw them in Cbus in '99 and they were doing songs from this album. They had a second stage that went about 100' into the audience from the main stage. though song not on this cd, that night, a Saturday, was the day before Easter. At midnight, the monkey man jumped into sympathy for the devil-way kool

Babylon and On
This album could have been an instant classic. It has some songs that are, namely Saint of Me, Flip The Switch, and Has Anybody Seen My Baby. Does that make this a classic album. Not quite. If this album didn't have a couple filler songs like You Don't Have To Mean It and Might As Well Get Juiced, I think this album would be a classic. The rest of the songs are pretty good. Sometimes I might ask too much out of an album, but it's the Stones. They put out Exile On Main Street, and to me, that was as close to perfection as anyone can get. It might not be Exile, but it's still a pretty darn good album. I'd probably give it a B+, which on a scale of 1-5, is somewhere between 4 and 5. I'll give the Stones the benefit of the doubt. biggest bang

Nothing Good
This cd has the worst music that The Rolling Stones have ever made. Not one song is worth listening too. PS I love this group a lot but not this set of songs.
