This is the classic cinematic version of Tennessee Williams's breathtaking play about a crazed southern family torn apart by greed. Cat on a Hot tin Roof
One of my all time favorite movies, I know it line by line. I find myself using the "p i g Hog" line as a description. I Love the family relationships and how they can be applied to life now as well as in the past. There are always favorites and the others striving to be the favorite and more popular family member. It shows even the most popular members are only human and have problems also. Of course, having Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman to look at doesn't hurt this film at all. Their supreme acting and chemistry in this film seems to simmer below the surface at all times.One of my all time favorite movies, I know it line by line. If I could only own one DVD..this would be it. Out of the vast myriad of movies that I thoroughly adore..this ranks the number one movie of all time. Maggie (Elizabeth Taylor)is sensational as a woman of determination,loyalty, beauty,class,love and strength. Brick (Paul Newman) immobilizes himself with drink to avoid facing himself. In so doing, he hurts all that love and need him. Big Daddy (Burl Ives) is the ultimate patriarch..self-made millionaire determined to get to the bottom of his family's dilema. The movie is a classic example of the only way out is through..and through they go. As pain and dishonesty erupt into anger and truth, the characters grow and heal. Big Daddy's illness does not deter him from bringing his family together and that he does. The entire cast demonstates the ... If I could only own one DVD..this would be it. Exciting to watch, leaves a pleasant feeling in the brain.
Excellent adult entertainment. No murder, no rape, only plenty of alcohol. Raw adult emotions come to the surface and old problems get solved. Great screen play, great acting.

Burl Ives is the grumpy overweight millionaire "Big Daddy" who oversees his family and plantation and business empire without compassion, heart and with an iron fist. Ultimately, love triumphs over the chaos that ensues with his families awareness of his impending death. Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor performances shine brightly like diamonds, that won each of them best acting awards at the Oscars in 1958. A timeless story.An all time classic movie and story, no serious film aficionado should miss. My wife loves this movie !!!!
the actors in the movie are very beleveable . Burel Ives as big daddy, Paul Newman as Brick a former super star football player and track man from the high school years hiding in the bottle from his past. High drama of family infighting for control and money!!!!
