    A Renaissance Couple

    The more I learn about Charles and Ray Eames, the more impressed and amazed I am at the depth and breadth of their knowledge, interests, and talents. It would be hard to name anyone in the design field today with such a vast range of accomplishments. Even if their names are not familiar to you, you see the evolution of their work every time you go into an airport or buy a plastic chair. Films, invention, graphics, architecture, furniture design -- they did it all with panache and skill. This volume contains their most famous short film, "The Powers of Ten," which should be required watching for every elementary school child (and every adult who thinks that science is "boring."). It also includes a posthumous tour of their venerable studio, showing the stimulating environment in which ...

    Amazing films

    This series of films is quite incredible for the times they were made in. Not only from the basic technological aspect, but from a societal perspective and impact for future generations. I wish there were more in the series. They are awesome, inspiring and really make one think about how our world now is influenced by design in an Eamesian sort of way. Lovely to watch and leaves you with a melancholy nostalgic feeling of times gone by that affected us in so many ways.

    Powers of Ten

    I have never owned it, but as an executive for Herman Miller during from 1964 to mid 70's, I was able to use it for various sales/marketing activities. The film was typically Eames/Nelson/Girard/Probst in that it was 'before it's time' during the Cold War/space exploraion period, and gave all who viewed it a feeling of proportion during that period of anxiety. I will buy it if I can. It is indeed, a classic!
