Powerful Story: Biblical Concept of Redemption
This book, one of my all-time favorites, is the powerful re-telling of the biblical story of the prophet Hosea and his wife Gomer, a prostitute. Francine Rivers sets the scene in the mid-1800's and masterfully weaves the story of Michael Hosea, a God-obeying farmer, who takes Angel, a prostitute with an abusive past, to be his wife, redeeming her from a life of captivity. If you want to grasp the concept of the power of loving redemption, this book is a must-read for you. Christians will be newly grateful for the lengths to which Jesus Christ has gone to redeem us from sin. (Please be aware that the author deals with the subject of abuse frankly and the publisher issues a "PG-13" rating. I would write a review for a Francine Rivers book anytime anywhere, and they would all say the same thing, almost! Absolutely superb Christian novelist!! This book was especially wonderful. the topic deals with prostitution and sexual intimacy, however, never once did it feel dirty or sinful to read it. She does a wonderful job of helping you to understand how God can love the sinner and hate the sin. As usual, Rivers takes you so completely "there" that you feel like you know the people. You experience their joys and heartache, very realistically. If you have never read a Francine River's book, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised, probably to the point of looking up every other Christian novel she has written so you can read them. one last thing: I doubt you will look at ... Best. Book. Ever Anyone who has ever read this book has always told me it’s on their favorites list. This author really knows how to create a story and develop characters that you can really feel a part of their lives. I couldn’t put it down!

Okay, Not that good.
Book was alright, cannot say its the best book I ever read. Went off the reviews, and was really disappointed. Just like the rest of the romance novels I have ever read, they all end the same. If you like romance novels you will like this book. Very unrealistic. Sad, it does show abuse was very likely to happen in that day and age and show that women where not really thought a lot of in that day and age. Book was alright, cannot say its the best book I ever read. Went off the reviews, and was really disappointed. Just like the rest of the romance novels I have ever read, they all end the same. If you like romance novels you will like this book. Very unrealistic. Sad, it does show abuse was very likely to happen in that day and age and show that women where not really thought a lot of in that day and age.
