A fun hands on book for toddlers
Tails by Matthew Van Fleet is a great book for toddlers! If you have a family pet, you will know how fascinated children are by animal tails and I can bet that the family cat or dog has had their tail pulled on more than one occasion. This book explores a variety of animal tails while allowing children to experience different textures through touch, there are also tabs to pull in order to make tails wag, swat, and little surprises pop up. It has very simple, limited text that is rhyming and fun to read "Tails stand up, tails drag, tails frisky - wag, wag-wag"...at which point your toddler can pull the associated tab and make the fox tails move. We see a boar and fur embellishments add detail to his tail where as bumpy material helps a chil understand more about an alligators skin. The ... This book has lots of humor which will work on levels that both the child and parent will enjoy...for example, the alligators face as her babies bite her tail is priceless!! This is a wonderful book, with so much to do within the pages. It is not only fun to read but a great source of information about the animal kingdom and perhaps this will interest the toddler long enough to give the poor family pet and its tail - a rest!!

Colorful, Tactile, Interactive Book for Little Ones
I bought this book because the picture caught my eye. I'm a former elementary special education and pre-school teacher. It has many animals that are colorful and each has a tail to touch. The tails vary from soft to spiny. Some are pull out, flaps, and even a scratch and sniff. The learning opportunities are multiple with counting, opposites, concepts, recognition of animals, actions, etc. It is recommended for toddlers, however, I would recommend it for ages through K-1st or even higher depending on the reading/interest level. I think early readers would thoroughly enjoy it. It is a board book but larger than the usual size and doesn't look like a "baby" book at all. Babies and toddlers would enjoy this book as well. Touch, feel, learn laugh, discover, play, read and entertain book.
I remembered seeing this adorable book displayed on a shelf in a model home baby's room recently and knew right away it would make a fabulous gift for any young child discovery world. I love the book and purchased this one for my nephew. I will purchase more now for future birthday gifts because it is even more charming than I knew at quick glance. The tails are all tactile for learning the difference between soft and coarse and all other types of sensory development in a young child. There are fold out and pull up pages. Each page is its own journey of discovery. I'm really so glad I remembered this book. Tails - Great for Multiple Ages
This book is so Cute!! I have purchased several - one to ruin at home, several to give as gifts, and one to save when my son gets older so he can have it. He is one year old, and while he will not sit through a whole book, I often find him tasting the hair that sticks out of this book from the Animals tails!! It's very interactive; having different textures for different animals that are characters in the book. I would reccomend this book to anyone with children. It does have pull pages to make moving tails, and each animal has a different feel or smell to it's tail. It is a wonderful book.This book is so Cute!! One of my favorite books!
I bought this book for my 9 month old son because he loves Dogs and Alphabet. We love this book even more than the other two! The concept is very cute and entertaining and the book follows a nice rhyming pattern enjoyed by young children. It has lots of flaps, textures, and pull tabs, which keep my son engaged. (At least one interactive piece on each page!) This book is smaller than the other two also which makes it a little easier for travel and a little sturdier. My major concern is the construction. Although it has a hard cover and the pages are thick, I'm afraid the binding will bust and the flaps/textures will be destroyed quickly by my son.
