À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Fresh from his aspectaculara (Cleveland Plain Dealer) debut in Dark of the Moon, investigator Virgil Flowers takes on a puzzlingaand most alarmingacase, in the new book from the #1 bestselling author. John Sandfordas introduction of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator Virgil Flowers was an immediate critical and popular success: alaser-sharp characters and a plot thatas fast and surprisinga (Cleveland Plain Dealer); aan idiosyncratic, thoroughly ingratiating heroa (Booklist). Flowers is only in his late thirties, but heas been around the block a few times, and he doesnat think much can surprise him anymore. Heas wrong. Itas a hot, humid summer night in Minnesota, and Flowers is in bed with one of his ex-wives (the second one, if youare keeping count), when the phone rings. Itas Lucas Davenport. Thereas a body in Stillwateratwo shots to the head, found near a veteranas memorial. And the victim has a lemon in his mouth. Exactly like the body they found last week. The more Flowers works the murders, the more convinced he is that someoneas keeping a list, and that the list could have a lot more names on it. If he could only find out what connects them all . . . and then he does, and heas almost sorry he did. Because if itas true, then this whole thing leads down a lot more trails than he thoughtaand every one of them is booby-trapped. Filled with the audacious plotting, rich characters, and brilliant suspense that have always made his books acompulsively readablea (Los Angeles Times), this is vintage Sandford.

  • Another Good Read from Sandford!!!!

I simply love the Lucaqs Davenport series ("Prey"). The introduction of a new series with a Davenport support type is a delight. Rather like Chuck Logan putting John Camp (Sandford) in his novels - an outside view of a well known and liked character. Vigil Flowers, aka "That Funkin' Flowers" is a cheery sort and very different from Davenport. I enjoyed the first Flowers book and the second is a great read as well. Camp's Kidd series is less successful and he certainly reads better when he stays in Minnisota. Washington D.C. is simply not his patch! So, years and years of Davenport have been most enjoyible, starting with "Rules of Prey". I hope he keeps writing these most delightful police procedurals...

  • John Sanford and Virgil Flowers team up again.

John Sanford built his formidable reputation with his "Prey books featuring Lucas Davenport as the main protagnist. Now he features a character often mentioned in previous works as a familar role player, Virgil Flowers. By casting Flowers in the lead Sanford has once again captured the essesnce of his craft: a believable character that the reader can root identify with. Mix in Sanford's great plotting and sardonic humor and you have another winner in his stable.

  • Better "After Somebody Else's Storm."

Sorry fans, but we've got a writer who was once fabulous but who is now tired and will probably write fewer and fewer books. I miss his sneaky-sharp humor (Crash -- oh please, not the Porsche) but if I'd written so many books with such perfect intensity, plot & characters, I'd be close to burn-out too. As for "Heat Lightning..." wow, new character Virgil Flower is as flat as...well, words on paper. Way into half the book and no wonder Davenport only checks in by phone. Mr. Sandford's vacancy will be good for collectors though, because his first 20-25 "Prey" books will be purchased and resold for decades to come. Sure hate to lose him though, as off he goes the way of Dean Koontz.

  • The writing is as flashy as the lightning.

A good book from John Sandford. This one features Virgil Flowers the sexy detective who is so smart but so different than the average town cop. Davenport is his boss and even he cannot control Flowers. I am a big fan of any of John Sandford's writings. for a good mystery with some humor in it, one cannot go wrong.

  • Another great Sanford book!

Sanford's book, Dark of the Moon, introduced Virgil Flowers and it was a really good book. Then Sanford wrote Heat Lightning, which also has Virgil Flowers as the main character, so i bought it and it's even better than the first book. There's never a dull moment and it keeps you guessing as to who and what and why. I highly recommend this book.
