The first major new Christmas story in decades, Santa' s Twin is sure to bring joy that parents can share with their children. Lavishly illustrated with spectacular paintings by Phil Parks, this thoroughly modern masterpiece breathes new life and warmth into the world' s most beloved legend Read it aloud, preferably to someone whose laugh you love to hear. • Looks scarier than it 'sounds' when read

I thought this was a fun story. The wording gave it a modern feel in set up, but the adventure 'style' was like old times....simple funny. I liked/loved the happy ending. It is definitely wrapped up in a manner that is consistent with most childrens stories, boom, boom!, boom!!, boom!! boom!!! everything is resolved/comes together. I don't want to give out too much more info and give the story away. The pictures, like the cover give the impression of a MUCH scarier story than I found it. With the author being Dean Koontz, I was concerned how weird/scary/strange this story would get. I enjoyed it a lot, and want to share it with my niece who is in first grade. Also in Santa's Twin's favor: I will say, that in the best traditions of Disney or Aesop's fables, there are a couple distinct ...

  • Santa's Twin by Dean Koontz (1996, Hardcover)

Ten years ago, about the time my son entered Junior High, in 1989, I bought this book. Initially, I was curious to see what Dean Koontz had come up with in the line of a Christmas story. After the first few pages, I knew I had found something special. I thought my son had outgrown reading Christmas stories "with his Mom," until I called him over to the couch and we began reading "Santa's Twin" together. I'd read the left hand pages out loud, and he'd read the right hand pages. Today he is 22, and it's become an annual tradition to sit and read this book together. Over the years I've purchased copies of "Santa's Twin" for my friends and relatives with Junior High aged children. Every year I get feed back from the adults and teens. ----- "Santa's Twin" is an amazingly delightful ...

  • Our New Family Favorite Christmas Eve Read!

Imbedded in the pages of Dean Koontz's novel "Mr. Murder" is a story the main character is writing for his daughter's. Dean Koontz decided to capitalize on this story with a story and publish the book "Santa's Twin." I bought the book simply because I buy everything by Koontz.....but this time, I was delighted beyond my wildest expectations! In the poetic and almost Suess like story, Santa is kidnapped and his evil twin brother wreaks havok on children around the world. That is until he meets up with two cunning and intelligent little girls. The story is delighful and hilarious! It's filled with things that make kids giggle (snot, boogers, pie fights and dog doodie) and is well written enough to keep an adult engaged. The illustrations are absolutely amazing!! And hidden inside each ...

  • A different side of Dean....

I don't want to spoil the story, but I will say it is a must read for any Dean Koontz fan. The whole book takes about 30 minutes to read (it is a children's book) if you don't spend 10 minutes staring at each picture. It IS NOT a novel like his other books, so don't buy it thinking that it is, rather buy it because it is Dean and it is a good story.
