    Good introduction to the world of Gears of War

    This is the first out of five books to be released in to the world of Gears. This book takes you from after the first games end and back in time where Marcus and Dom first meet as kids and when they become Gears. It gives you a nice back story to the characters you meet in the first game. You will learn how Dom and Marcus became the war hardened soldiers that they are. You will also meet other Gears that add to the story. The likes of Baird and Cole are also present. This book also sets up part 2 of the game. This book is very militaristic. There are many military refrences, ofcours set in a distant world of Sera but still has good connetion to our world. For any Gears fan this book will be a fantastic read. Once you get emerced into it you will not be able to put it down. Took me a week ...

    Aspho Fields

    The story is great, it is easy to follow and it has a good price, recommended to Gears fans and all readers .This book, brings some details never seen in the game and it gives you more background about the Gears world and the friendship between Marcus and Dom. Also Karen Travis' writing is easy to follow and always has the reader engaged what will happen next.

    Gears of War 1(2008, Paperback)

    My son came home and was so excited about this book. He plays the game and begged me for the book when the second was released. Upon buying the second at a bookstore(big mistake) I could have gotten it cheaper on Ebay--I won't make that mistake again. He realized that he needed the first one to get the whole story. The only thing I dislike about the book is the cursing, I think that there are so many other words that could have been used. The book was new and that was a plus because my son wants to keep them in a series right next to the Harry Potter series. I purchased the book becuase it was something that my son asked for and I will always encourge anyone that would like to read.

    Action Adventure & you care about the characters

    A great book. You like action adventure & military culture this is a great read. If you want compelling characters this is a great read. Do you self a favor put down the screen and read a book that can deal with big issues without beating you over the head with ideologies you don't believe in.
