My LIfe In France - Julia Child
This is a must have for all serious cooks. Anyone who knows anything about the culinary world, knows Julia Child! This book is a wonderful recounting of Julia Child's days in France. In her own words, Julia tells her captivating story of where she fell in love with French food and found her "true calling." You can tell she poured her heart and soul into this book. My life's ambition has been to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, so I must say I had a huge bias for this book. Although her time at Le Cordon Bleu only accounts for a very small portion of the book itself, it was a major influence on Julia's life. This book is filled with beautiful black-and-white photographs and Julia's engaging manner of story telling bring these years to life for the reader. By all accounts, she lived ... If you ever get a chance to visit the Smithsonian in DC, they have actually moved Julia Child's kitchen there and have set it up exactly as Julia had it. It is not the fancy, gourmet kitchen one would expect. Julia was a very down to earth person and it is reflected time and again in her book. You also get a sense of the deep love she had for her husband. This is truly a wonderful book, you won't want to put it down.

Great title with a WONDERFUL Jacket picture for the book.
I love this beautiful story. This is a true love story with lots of funny side stories. I recommend this book to everyone who love non fiction and humor. Julia was an incredible woman with so many talents. A woman for young women to look up to.

Best book EVER...
I couldn't wait to read this book after seeing the movie, "Julie & Julia". I have a knew found love and respect for Julia Child and Paul Child. They both led such inspiring, scary, and adventuress lives. In a time of uncertainty they made the best of their time during and after WWII. It's so inspiring to read how they traveled, stood up to their convictions and had the courage to do so with such passion. Julia is a wonderful role model for today's young women. She never backed down from her beliefs whether it be political, in the kitchen, or in the class room. She was a force to be wreckened with and stayed true to herself and those she collaborated with. I was always a fan but not to the degree I am now. She writes so passionately about her husband, friends, travels around Europe, and the ... I couldn't wait to read this book after seeing the movie, "Julie & Julia". I have a knew found love and respect for Julia Child and Paul Child. Like her book, "MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING", Julia writes with so much love and shares it all. She is a Saint in the kitchen. Bon Appetit!!!

So informative and endearing.
For whatever reason(s), I have been drawn to and fascinated by Julia (and Paul) Child ever since watching the movie "Julie and Julia". This book confirms and elaborates on what I learned earlier. Very enjoyable and something I will display proudly on my coffee table along with "France is a Feast", which showcased Paul's photography. I highly recommend both books to Child admirers!
