    The best "point & shoot" I have ever owned.

    The Canon A640 is in my opinion one of if not the best "point & shoot" cameras out there. I bought my first A640 four years ago and now I have purchased a second from ebay. My first one was taken hostage by my wife. I have a DSLR but I carry my A640 every where I go. I say it is the best camera because: It is small enough to carry in my shirt or pant pocket & easy to use. Many times I have handed it to someone to use and be unfamiliar with it they still can figure it out and take great pictures. Settings: It has a wide range of settings. The close up setting is awesome I have taken pictures of insects that look like they came from National Geographic.     Put Fun Back Into Picture Taking!

    True story; I owned a Canon Rebel T3i. It took great pictures, had many features, and was excellent quality. It was also large and loud. I like to take candid pictures and the Rebel was not good for that. I sold the Rebel on eBay and bought two cameras: a Canon PowerShot A1400 and a Canon PowerShot A640. Both have viewfinders and that is huge for me. I prefer to hold the camera to my eye when taking pictures. Plus the viewfinders both zoom with the lens. You don't always get that. The A640 has an articulating LCD screen which is great for taking pictures of things that I sell on eBay. I put the item on a table, the camera on a tripod and shoot at object level. Visually much better than shooting above the object. Much easier with an articulating LCD. Both cameras have a multitude of manual ...

    Canon A640 is AWESOME!

    This is probably my favorite digital camera ever. The swivel screen is one of my favorite things about the camera. It makes it easy to take pictures at any angle and actually see the photo you're taking before you take it. The quality of the pictures it takes is really great as well. The camera is easy to use and has many features and options, such as video, night shots, and portrait modes. It's easy to hook up to a TV or computer to view the pictures or videos. All in all, a great camera for the money.

    a640 vs nikon d3000?

    i recently came into a nikon D3000 that belonged to my now deceased brother in law. i did a comparison shot of a piece of artwork and the a640 won out. i used the nikon 18-55 zoom for the copy photo. i have been using my A640 for many years and never had an issue with it (it has taken a beating and is still fine). i even bought a second one on ebay in mint condition several years ago because it has all the features i want (aa batts, video, compact, great macro, articulating screen, etc.). anyhow, i love the a640, but will keep the D3000 as a tribute to my brother in law and a reliable "plan B".

    A lot of function in a small camera

    I use the A620 daily at work and have for over 8 years wearing out several sets of rechargeable batteries and wearing the printing off of the case with my fingers. The movable view screen is really helpful as I take photos of items being tested in a lab. I figured that a newer version with a larger screen and more resolution would be a step up. I was able to get a real clean used camera for a fraction of it's new cost and nearly nothing compared to what new cameras of this quality are selling for. The easy ability to set the timer for the delay I want and then have it shoot more than one shot at a time keeps from having to try and get the family to re-pose for those family photographs. The ability to shoot in black and white or sepia allows me to play with my creative side. I dont' think ...
