WHEN HARRY MET SALLY... tracks a star-crossed pair as they repeatedly drift apart and meet again over a span of 13 years and gradually fall madly, deeply, passionately into friendship, a friendship ever teetering on the edge of love. Harry meets Sally when they share a car ride to New York City upon graduation from the University of Chicago. A few minutes into the trip, the conversation between womanizing, neurotic Harry (Billy Crystal) and driven, equally neurotic Sally (Meg Ryan) becomes heatedly contentious. The question arises: Can a man and a woman be just friends? Harry contends this proposition is impossible, that sex will always come along to screw up the friendship. Sally is aghast and disagrees, proclaiming the idea a distinct possibility. The two part ways rather acrimoniously in New York but before long meet again and eventually decide to indeed be friends. As life's mysterious coincidences pull Harry and Sally closer together, they share mystical, tender moments, confess secrets to each other, console each other, attend major holidays together, and do all the other things couples traditionally do. The question then reemerges: Can Harry and Sally remain mere friends, or will they--must they--fall in love? And can anyone forget Ryan's classic faking-it scene in Katz's Deli?

    Short interviews with real couples make this a must see.

    Really enjoyable movie. I appreciate the fact that THIS romantic comedy does not involve infidelity. Many romantic comedies involve two married couples where one spouse from each marriage finds their soul mate in a spouse from the other....very NOT cute. This movie portrays the dynamics of a real relationship that develops over years...decades really. I am a big Billy Crystal fan...he does not let me down in this movie. Meg is adorable. Their chemistry is really good. As a 40 something year old male I can relate to the various maturity stages of relationships that this movie attempts to capture.     A VERY, VERY GOOD MOVIE!!! A WELL KNOWN CLASSIC!!!!!!!!

    When Harry Met Sally is an all-time favorite that many recommend. Even though it is an older film(1989) and has always come highly recommended, we just now watched it for the first time(2008). IT IS A GREAT FILM!! A excellent romantic comedy, very well written, with a GREAT CAST and GREAT PERFORMANCES!!! It focuses on the basics of opposite sex relationships(just friends), dating, and marriage. MANY GREAT SCENES, and WELL WORTH WATCHING! We wont get into any of the fine details, as we would for you to watch it for yourself. A great chick/flick, dating/couple flick. Will keep your attention from beginning to end, and carries a GREAT STORYLINE! **WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!** Rent It or Buy It? We say..... BUY IT!!     both very funny action but problems no closed caption subtiles suppse to English closed caption not Spanish not French stuck no English anyway very very action good Billy Crystal funny man I loved it his way.. same with Meg Ryan both common conversation..

    More value than humor

    Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal portray an oddly matched couple who seem occupied with their lives and content with things just the way they are. A trip to Chicago together, while each shared driving responsibilties caused the couple to open themselves up to each other, primarily because of Billy Crystal's confrontational demeanor. This "gutsy" revelation of each other brought many changes. They parted and went separate ways, and in the end they wind up getting married, much to each other's surprise. It just goes to show we aren't always who we think we are, neither is the one we say we "love." Sometimes it takes a long time to know what we want. But when we do...we're sure we want it. See the movie. It's funny, real, thought provoking, and provides some very simple lessons on life. D. Hammock

    Loved it.

    This was a new unopened DVD. The color was better than the original taped version. The pictures were great.
