This 70 to 300-millimeter f4.5-5.6 G SSM lens is a high-performance product that delivers pristine image quality. The G-Series features advanced technology exclusive to Sony products, such as a Super Silent Wave Motor and high-tech glass elements. This lens impresses even the most demanding photographer. For best results, it even comes with a super fast shutter that eliminates blurry or distorted images. Capture objects that are far away and almost invisible to the naked eye with its focal length of 300 millimeters. The telephoto zoom range extends from 70 millimeters to 300 millimeters, giving you full control over how much contrast a photo has. It is easy and safe to grip in order to prevent any accidents. At around 1.7 pounds in weight, attaching it to a camera won't add a lot of weight, and it will be easy to carry around on long photo shoots. This series of lenses is compatible with all Sony Minolta and Sony Alpha cameras with APS-C and A-mount full-frame sensors. A full-frame sensor allows for a wide view when taking a picture. This Sony camera accessory also comes with an aperture range of f/4.5-5.6. The aperture of this Sony lens is controlled by whichever camera you equip it on. When taking photos, you'll be pleased by the quality ED glass, which helps to increase sharpness and clarity when taking a picture. This glass also helps to reduce chromatic aberration, which can make the fringes of an image appear to be colored incorrectly. Image stabilization is built-in to all cameras compatible with these lenses, which means that the actual lenses avoid the additional weight. With a minimum focal distance of around 4 feet, honing in on close-up shots of nature or people is made easy with this lens. The filter found inside the Sony lens is set to a diameter of 62 millimeters and doesn't need to rotate. This allows for the usage of rotating polarizing filters. You can change the type of focus mode you wish to use with just the flip of a switch, and a hold button for this setting is also included. The Super Sonic Wave Motor found in this 70-300-millimeter lens allows for the autofocus mechanic to remain quick and silent when in use. This particular SSM lens also consists of nine diaphragm blades, which helps to provide a pleasing bokeh effect. This full-frame device consists of a total of 16 elements within 11 groups. This camera shipped to me quickly and arrived with no damage. Condition is very nice. No negative issues to note. Item is as described in listing. I am satisfied with my purchase. Although I have already shot an entire 36-exposure roll of film, I have yet to pick up the processed film from the camera store where it was dropped off. I ordered another film door for it because the data back has a light leak (as stated in listing). I expect that I will love this camera and use it a lot! Thank you!

    Very sharp , highly recommend

    Although the 70-300 is larger and heavier than the Minolta 100-300 f4.5-5.6 APO, the extra size and weight are justified by the superior image sharpness and build quality that one obtains from a G lens. I have measured the sharpness of both the 70-300 and the 100-300 using the Imatest lens test software. The 70-300 is sharper than the 100-300, particularly at f4.5 and f5.6. However, the 70-300 does exhibit a minor amount of chromatic aberration, whereas the 100-300 does not. The 70-300 makes a great travel companion for the Zeiss 24-70 f2.8. The SSM focusing motor is fast and quiet. My only minor complaint about this lens is that I would have preferred to see all metal construction instead of plastic, and for this reason I've awarded it 4 stars instead of 5.

    Suprising quality in this lens

    I've owned Nikon, Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses of this zoom range before (Still do in Nikon). This Sony lens exceded my expectations and has produced excetional images on my A77 II. If you're looking for this range to get closer this will perform well but I would expect you'll need some stabilization. It is a bit hefty in weight but worth it.

    great IQ

    IQ is great compared to the minolta 75-300mm lens I was using since film days. Size is a little larger than the minolta lens but well worth it for the better IQ. Auto focus almost silent and is fast compared to the 75-300, but that is the reason I purchased it, doing video. Thought about getting the tamron 70-300mm as it also has an almost silent auto focus and a lot cheaper. Reason for buying this over that, the "G" lens will hold its resale value much better if I decide to up grade to the 70-400 later. If you can afford it get this lens it is really worth it.

    Cannot Find Fault With The Sony 70-300mm A-Mount Lens

    Awsome lens. I was using the Tamron 70-300mm. Not to good. Too much micro focusing and hunting. The Sony doesn't do any of these things.

    Best in Class

    This lens cannot be bested by any similar zoom. It is sharp throughout its zoom range and at all f stops. The color correction totally eliminates fringing. Although it is only 1:4 in maximum macro capability, its resolution allows very tight crops which result in excellent macro images. Well worth the money if you demand only the very best.
