mercury thermostats work great on older heating systems best

Best manual thermostat
For my generation, this was the ubiquitous Honeywell thermostat on the wall. Extremely reliable, easy to read and operate. Heating and cooling or heating only. Unfortunately, the modern day Honeywell thermostats are no where near the quality of these "relics." Due to environmental regulations, the mercury is no longer used as the main switch component. Finding one these days is a bit of a challenge. Make sure all the parts are included before buying. Old School is the Best
I purchased this thermostat to replace a fancy, wifi, touch screen model recently installed in my home as part of my new central A/C system. That thing never worked right from the get-go and it was beyond frustrating to deal with. It wasn't properly calibrated, wouldn't stay connected to my wifi network, the "touch" part of "touch screen" didn't always work right and getting assistance from customer service was impossible. This Honeywell T87F 2873 NoS unit is chock full of mercury and has Cool, Off, Heat, On and Auto. It works perfectly...end of story. Bullet-proof device
Putting this in parallel with my smart thermostat so when that one fails (which it will), this one will keep the pipes from freezing. Brand new. Will probably last 100 years.
