Product Information

The second H.P. Lovecraft adaptation by Stuart Gordon, FROM BEYOND is pure Lovecraftian science-terror. Out-there scientist Dr. Pretorious (Ted Sorel) and his assistant, Dr. Tillinghast (Jeffery Combs), are working towards breaking through earthly perceptions and revealing a new alternate universe. They do this by stimulating the pineal gland of the human brain, which enables people to see the strange creatures that inhabit a parallel dimension. Unfortunately, these creatures can now see humans as well, and they are none too pleased with it. Dr. Pretorious is killed by the floating monstrosities, but the police blame his assistant for the murder and lock him up. Only Dr. Katharine McMichaels (Barbara Crampton) believes the insane tales of Dr. Tillinghast, and it's up to her to shut down the experiment that threatens to unleash the other-dimensional creatures on this universe forever. Great special effects and solid performances by Combs and Crampton complement a near-perfect realization by Gordon of Lovecraft's vividly detailed and chilling vision of scientific possibilities.

A H.P. Lovecraft masterpiece!
Directed by Stuart Gordon, "From Beyond" is a horror film once you see it you'll never forget it... I remember when I first saw it on VHS, I was speechless. The special effects are amazing. The soundtrack is excellent. The cast is great. I just bought the DVD, and it is awesome. It is the unrated director's cut version of the film. I highly recommend this DVD to horror fans... One of the best horror movies ever made. This film is oozing with originality. Based on a short story written by H.P. Lovecraft, the filmakers take great liberty in expanding the story into a full feature film. Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton return from the Re-Animator, as well as the director Stuart Gordon. The story is captivating. The gory parts are disturbing and creepy. Some of the special effects are a little cheezy, however for the time and considering the budget for the film they are very impressive. The movie is about a machine called the Resonator. This device stimulates the 6th sense in humans. The effects of this are dangerous. Highly recommended for fans of horror films, sci-fi and H.P. Lovecraft.One of the best horror movies ever made. Good Sci-Fi
I had seen this when it came out and it was scary and shocking just like good horror is supposed to be. The best science fiction starts with a plausible idea and takes off from there. This is the case here. A machine that stimulates a gland in the brain that to this day science knows little about. The idea of inter-dimensional beings living outside our sensory range could explain a lot of paranormal things not to mention that todays physics that excepts no less than a possibility of up to 10 or more dimensions. When this came out on dvd I knew I would buy it and of coarse ebay was there for me once again. This is the directors fully restored version. I would not bother with any other version. Disturbingly fun.
Evil scientists, monsters and Jeffrey Combs add in the creepy house and you got yourself a great horror film.

Were does this creature come from? From Beyond.
Another film adaptation of the worls of H P Lovecraft. Enjoyed the special effects and am madly in love with Barbara Crampton aft er Re-Animator,
