Product Information

"Mama" returns for more delicious dishes in this follow-up to Majesco's sleeper hit on Nintendo DS. The stylus and microphone are used to prepare 80 meals, each incorporating multiple mini-games, from chopping and boiling to shredding and slicing. Cooking Mama 2 also offers the chance to make specific meals for Mama's friends. This presents a new challenge, since failing a single step in the preparation process ends the game. Another addition is the ability to customize Mama and her kitchen with items unlocked by earning medals and gold stars in each recipe. Up to four players can also compete in a choice of 16 fast-paced mini-games.

    New Features

    If you were drawn into the first version of Cooking Mama; then Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends will be perfect for you. It offers many new recipes with many new ways to prepare the dishes that weren't available in the first version. You can re-decorate your kitchen and utensils and even change the clothes that Mama is wearing in the game. You unlock new recipes and bonus items as you progress in the game. A new twist in this version also is that you can play by preparing recipes as you did in the first version or you can also serve dinner for your friends that come over who rate your dishes. It isn't just the same old thing with some new recipes to make it interesting. It is worth the money if you liked the first and wanted a taste of a little more with a twist.

    Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends (Nintendo DS)

    Okay so this is TOTALLY a KIDS game but its kind of fun too.. in its slightly odd.. navel gazing approach to things. Hear me out though I'm making this review as a somewhat informed adult video game player. There is plenty of things in this game that a player can unlock and explore. While it won't teach anyone about how to REALLY cook much real food players still (..especially the young ones) will learn some basics about how things WORK that may actually help them out when they go to try some new things in the kitchen. As an adult I give this game a 4 out of 5 but I'd bet you that any young kid would be pretty likely to say this game is a solid five out of five because its pretty fun and the game does teach a few things about what goes into the actual cooking process.

    One of My Favorite DS Games

    I'd heard a lot about the Cooking Mama games from friends and reviews, so when I finally picked up a DS, this was one of the first games I bought. I'm a big fan of any game that makes heavy use of the stylus, and Cooking Mama 2 is played entirely with the touchscreen. In the game, you follow directions to prepare foods in two different modes - cook with mama and let's cook. In the first mode, cook with mama, you learn all of the different methods of preparing the foods and in let's cook, you're sort of tested on it. Throughout the game, you get to unlock a lot of neat little extras. They're mostly to decorate pictures you can take of your finished recipes, but a few are to dress up mama and customize the top screen and the items you use during gameplay.     Cooking Mama 2

    Cooking mama 2 is such a fun game. We have only had it for 2 days, but we have already tried to "cook" many of the food items. Sometimes the directions are a little vague, but other than that we have really enjoyed it. Anyone who likes to cook (or wishes they knew how) will enjoy this game. Along with step by step cooking with "mama", you can also compete solo or against friends doing certain steps in the cooking process. Also it is really funny that when you mess up a step mama's eyes turn to fire. HA!

    Cooking Mama 2 DS Game Very Fun

    I decided to buy this DS game for my son's 7th birthday, because I got the first Cooking Mama game for the Wii for Christmas and he played it and played it until he made all the recipes. He loved the first game. He started playing this game on his DS almost instantly. He loves this game. When he went to school I sat down and tried this game. When I have the time to tackle the entire Wii game we have, I will tackle his new DS game next. It's easy to understand and fun trying to make new recipes. It gives children the concept of 1st,2nd,3rd, in order to achieve a goal at the end. Plus it gives him an insight on the many different steps of cooking a meal and that you just don't buy the meals I serve him already put together and done. I recommend this game.
