When Bob (Garrett M. Brown) and Cindy Russell (Elaine Bromka) have to leave town for a family emergency, they are left with no alternative but to call in Bob's brother, Buck (John Candy), to baby-sit. A jobless, lifelong bachelor with a heart of gold, Buck hardly seems the ideal baby-sitter. Charged with caring for his smart-mouthed teenage niece, Tia (Jean Louisa Kelly), and her two outspoken younger siblings, Maisy (Gaby Hoffman) and Miles (Macaulay Culkin), Buck finds himself learning how to survive in suburbia and parent at the same time. At first Buck doesn't even know how many times a day to feed the dog, much less the kids. He battles the washing machine and sends Miles to school with an utterly inedible bag lunch. But little by little Buck begins to take his responsibility seriously, putting the needs of his nieces and nephew before his own, earning their love and respect. With any luck, his newfound familial instincts will help him win back his estranged girlfriend, Chanice (Amy Madigan), who is tired of his refusal to commit to marriage. Directed by John Hughes (SIXTEEN CANDLES, THE BREAKFAST CLUB), this film was shot in various Illinois locations.

Uncle Buck is probably John Candy's funniest movies. In this film, there has been an emergency in his brother's wife's family and they are forced to make a spur of the moment trip in the middle of the night. The only babysitter that was available anywhere was Uncle Buck. He is fun loving, crazy, and totally against working for a living. He is a gambler, a smoker, and is absolutely dead set on nothing else but having a good time. The three kids are not used to anybody really caring for them. The oldest daughter, Tia, is about 15, and is a stuck-up little "Bit-h" who thinks that she is super smart and 30! She lies and does anything she can to be hateful to everybody else; a real brat! The two little ones, Miles and Maisey, are cute and normal. Throughout this ordeal, Buck manages to impart a ... Uncle Buck is probably John Candy's funniest movies. Great movie
I loved this movie it is worth looking at anytime bit we watch it every Christmas. My old VHS tape broke so I ordered this one.

Uncle Buck is another of John Candy's fun movies. Family can watch it together and laugh. I mean really laugh. This is from way back, but has lots of meaning to his movies. So get the popcorn and lemonade and chill with the family! You will also love, Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Guess this would be a great Thanks Giving movie!! All J. C. movies are top notch....he was here to make be smile and laugh. Fun Canadian guy!Uncle Buck is another of John Candy's fun movies. Family can watch it together and laugh. I mean really laugh.
