For a DX camera, and composition practice, this lens is the one you need!
I've purchased this item to develop my picture composing skills, and for blurred background. I needed a couple of days to get used to it, but after I did,I have to say that next to my basic 18-55 mm lens and 55-200 lens -both nikon-this is the only one that stayed on my camera constantly. I love it, it helps you develop with your compositions, no zoom to help, you have to move back and forward, works fine in low light, portraits look more professional and fun to use.Also thanks to no zoom the shapes on the pictures are pin sharp!I've purchased this item to develop my picture composing skills, and for blurred background. A superb "standard" lens.
This lens is to APS-C format cameras what the old 50mm lens was to 35mm cameras: a "standard" lens. Its focal length on my Nikon D200 is actually about 52.5mm. The lens is built to the usual high standards of Nikon, and is optically excellent. The fast maximum aperture of f1.8 allows for a very shallow depth of field if desired, and is particularly useful in low light where flash is inappropriate.This lens is to APS-C format cameras what the old 50mm lens was to 35mm cameras: a "standard" lens. Excellent, must-buy lens for any Nikon DX camera user.
This is an excellent lens and a must buy for any Nikon DX users. I also have the 50mm F1.8 which I love for snapping people at parties etc (especially when you primarily want head shots). The beauty of the 35mm is the ability to replace the stock 18-55 with a lens which gives you all the extra light and is just as flexible if you are prepared to move about a bit more. It is not quite as quick focussing as I would like, but overall an excellent piece of glass for the money.This is an excellent lens and a must buy for any Nikon DX users. I also have the 50mm F1.8 which I love for snapping people at parties etc (especially when you primarily want head shots). Light/small..a great street lens..sooo cheap it's almost criminal.
This is a great lens at a very cheap price..just crazy to think that Nikon can make such a good lens at such a low price. It works great with my D300..it is very light,focuses quickly and is quiet.For low light situations and candid photography this lens is just perfect.Another benefit is that you will also look inconspicuous in public places,and even though you'll have to do a bit more leg work than if you'd been using one of Nikon's zoom lens the picture quality and low weight will convince you that this is a great lens for taking pictures while trudging the streets.This is a great lens at a very cheap price..just crazy to think that Nikon can make such a good lens at such a low price. Small is wonderful
This is the first F/1.8 I've ever bought & was totally amazed at the speed. It is excellent for street photography but you have to get up close & personal!! To be honest I haven't used it as much as I should but I'm out and about with it all week. Excellent value for money & ideal if you've got a DX formatted camera as the lens works out to be 52mm. Well worth a purchase.
