Functional but Disappointing Lackluster Overall Performance
Pros - ease of use - interchangable battery - okay battery life performance - accepts up to 32GB Cards Cons - lower than expected low-light performance - no built-in self-timer for when taking still images (photos) - unexplained system freezes randomly - when actively recording video even if plugged into power source still runs off battery, the battery only recharges or receives power from power source while unit is OFF & dedicated to recharging of battery ONLY. If a cellphone can do it, why cant a dedicated device ? === Overall === This model purchased after previously owning two (2) of the earlier model :: Kodak zi8 expecting familiar impressive low-light high quality of recorded videos. Instead however, this model produced quality only slightly above most earlier cellphones with HD ... For a device exclusively dedicated to only to video (and to some degree also photos), unlike smartphones- which also features a broad array of capabilities including voice/data, browsers, speech recognition etc etc- I found the zi10 was skimpy on the number of practical features, not the least of which A BUILT IN FLASH (horribly absent). It does produce fairly good quality overall recorded video, in well lighted indoor scenes or if natural sunlight present from a large sized window very closely adjacent to recorded content. My earlier zi8's though however, produced noticeably superior results in both (2) different units I acquired from two (2) different sources. So I'm fairly sure that's not a coincidence and I've read similar feedback elsewhere. I didn't realize it would be as significant a STEP BACKWARD until I experienced it for myself. Again though, in fairness to all parties, I must include that YES, it is a handy little device dedicated to just video/photo related duties, and I CAN say that one upgraded area was the battery life performance (in my estimation was at least 50% or perhaps 75% more than zi8 but not quite double. But why include that you can hook up an external microphone but neglect to have a built-in flash component, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, considering low-light recording is not a strength of this model. Overall I feel this device doesn't quite live up to expectations, and cant be deserving of more than three (3) stars at best.

This is an excellent HD pocket camcorder that is easy to use. I had no problems figuring out how adjust the settings on the intuitive touch screen. I have not had any problems with fingerprints on my black camcorder. Can record (by your choice) from 720p to 1080, and it's easy to download to a computer or upload to YouTube. Edit your videos right on the camera! This camcorder has an external microphone jack/earphone jack, and you can adjust the mic for great recording audio. Battery lasts a long time too.This is an excellent HD pocket camcorder that is easy to use. I had no problems figuring out how adjust the settings on the intuitive touch screen. Good value for the money.
These little cameras are nice for multi-shot video and film use. If you are on a small budget, these cameras have a small footprint and the 1/4 x 20 bottom thread mount allows these cameras to be placed inconspicuously around the set for easy additional angles for your film project. Using inexpensive SD cards, I find these cameras perfect for live taping of music concerts.

Great little video camera!
I had the Kodak Zi8 which I liked a lot, and the Playtouch has some nice added features like a touchscreen and on the fly editing. I also like the image quality for the camera (it's only 5mp, but for sharing pictures on social media it is plenty). It's nice to have the ability to take video from such a lightweight camera. I wish Kodak still made these!

I bought my Kodak playtouch on ebay, refurbished. The best thing about it, is its easy to use, most people think its a cell phone. I am not satisfied with it, for if I record a .45-1:00 minute video of my grandkids, the first half audio and video is perfect, then it turns into loud static noise and there are various colors of lines across the screen when watching the video. I'm glad I got it for around $20.00, half was shipping. I see it sells on some sites from $40.00- $60.00 and frankly, if I had paid that much, I would be sending it back asking for a refund. I used it at church to record about a 5 minutes song, it played great the first minute and half, the rest was a blurry screen of various colored lines, sometimes the bottom half of the screen would be messed up and could see the ...
