Screwed Blued and Tattooed
This is one of those albums that just slid away quietly without having the benefit of risk takers. The name of the band probably scared away most of the fans that they should have had. But coming in a little late in the hair band era didn't help the cause. When it comes to the tracks, "Stranger Than Paradise" was the only cut that actually got any air play to speak of. This is definitely a Winger type of cut. The title track "Screwed, Blued, and Tattooed" should have been a huge hit. It's a fabulous cross between the Motley Crue and Jackyl style of musics. Give this album a chance. Very good quality for a group that was very short lived. Classic hard rock album
If you never heard of Sleeze Beez or hard rock in general - that's a great album to start with! It has virtually everything from driving opening riffs of "Rock In The Western World" to emotional power ballad "Stranger Than Paradise". And even though this is the band's 2nd album few could ever release such a kicking masterpiece no earlier than after 3 or 4 average tryouts. Just consider the wild mix of AC/DC sound (obviously heard on "House Is On Fire") with a touch of "Crazy Nights" KISS and a slight brush of Aerosmith "Permanent Vacation". And this band is not even from the United States, they are Dutch! Oh, don't forget the lyrics - they are mind-blowing and totally in the style of late 80ies. The only missing moment is ... SCREWED BLUED & TATTOOED FOR SURE!
These guys got screwed for sure. The U.S. never got the memo that these guys effin' ROCK! This is a rare find if you like 80's metal. In the vein of Skid Row, Motley Crue, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella, Poison, L.A. Guns, Lord Tracy and Roxy Blue (2 local bands here) and all the rest of the kick axe bands of that era. Killer guitar licks all over the place. Great range from the lead singer too. Unfortunately this band didn't get the recognition they so justly deserved. A great deal of talent here from all members. IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET THIS ALBUM, DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE!!! you will thank me, I will bet on that. Every single song is a good rocker, not just a few. What can i say about this album,in my opinion its an absolute classic and must own.Bought this upon release on cassette at the time of release and been fortunate enough now to find an original cd. Real party melodic hard rock and something that should've made these guys from holland a household name worldwide thanks to infectious tunes and great melodies. Just listen to "rock in a western world","house is on fire" the title track before confronting the hit that should have been in "stranger than paradise" an absolute belter of a track,perfect in every dept. Add to that the excellence of "heroes die young" and killer ballad "this time" followed by balls to the wall sleaze rock in the shape of "when the brains go to the balls","don't talk about roses","girls girls,nasty nasty" & "damned if ...
