The Seagate Momentus connects to a motherboard via a 3 GB/s SATA interface. This delivers plenty of data transfer speed. A 7200 RPM spindle allows you to access any address on the hard disk quickly. This disk uses a 16MB buffer cache to hold critical I/O data, noticeably improving your user experience. A fluid dynamic bearing motor decreases noise, wear, and vibrations, which increase the life of the component.Latency rates have a major impact on overall disk performance. The Seagate Momentus ST9500423AS has an average latency rate of only 4.2 milliseconds, keeping lookup times low.     The Most Dependable HDD

    I replaced my first hard drive about 8 years ago and had problem after problem after replacing it twice with other brands. I replaced it the third time with a Seagate and never had another problem. Since that time, I have replaced several hard drives in different computers I have and have had and I have not had any problems because I always use a Seagate. This hard drive is quiet and very fast (the 7200 rpm model) for a disk drive. Sure a SSD is probably much faster but then you have the cost difference. For the cost, you can't get a better hard drive than this one. I will and do highly recommend it to all of my friends and relatives.

    Great upgrade for my old drive

    This doubled the size of my hard drive in my laptop and it was easy to install. I've loaded all the added all my software and it runs as fast as the original and has tons of free space. Great purchase when my original died.

    Seagate 500GB Hard Drive Works As Planned.

    I bought this drive to be an Ubuntu 18.04 external backup drive. I got a hard enclosure with usb to sata connection and this drive does exactly what I wanted it to do. Works Perfect!

    Quality is a 500GB harddrive that works great.

    I have nothing but praise for these 500GB harddrive bought. I got 7 of them altogether. They all are working fine. I love it when I can count on other people doing their job right so I don't have to redo what I count on them to do. Thank you for a job well done.

    GREAT LITTLE DRIVE FOR USE IN EXTERNAL ENCLOSURE

    I bought this to replace a 500mb Hitachi drive that failed after only 13 months of use. I use this in an external enclosure to physically carry large amounts of data between different Mac computers (don't like iCloud!). Right out of the box -- after formatting -- this drive worked just fine. Hope this one lasts long than the Hitachi which only lasted for 13 months! (We'll see.)
