À propos de ce produit

Product Information

In this notorious film version of the popular French comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest, Jane Fonda plays a sexy yet innocent space-age heroine in the year 40,000 A.D. who never gets herself into a situation that requires too much clothing. BARBARELLA opens with the titular heroine stripping down to nothing in zero gravity among strategically placed credits. From there Barbarella embarks on a mission to find a peace-threatening young scientist named Duran Duran (Milo O'Shea) by order of the president of Earth. En route, she's attacked by killer dolls, is strapped into a contraption known as the Excessive Machine, and falls in love with a blind angel. Remaining true to its comic book origins, Barbarella's adventure unfolds in a series of dramatic difficulties and unlikely solutions, making for a galloping pace and never-ending opportunities for Mario Garbuglia's hallucinatory set design to dazzle. With guest appearances by 1960s icons Anita Pallenberg, Marcel Marceau, and David Hemmings, and featuring dialogue by novelist Terry Southern, among others, BARBARELLA is not only a comic sci-fi sex romp but also a sly, tongue-in-cheek portrait of the legendary debauchery of that era.

  • Pure entertainment - a female "Flash Gordon"

Disclaimer: I'm writing this from the point of view of someone who wasn't even born at the time this movie was filmed. I don't know Jane Fonda's politics, when I was growing up she made fitness tapes. With that out of the way, this was an awesome movie. You're not watching it for plot (no groundbreaking stuff here); take that moment when as a young boy you see Princess Leia in the gold bikini and realize that girls aren't gross, make that your primary character's outfit for the bulk of the movie and place her in fantastical sci-fi settings - that's how awesome this movie is. I felt like a 13 year old again watching this, half afraid my mom would walk in and roll her eyes. The sexuality is simultaneously blatant (it was the sexual revolution, ...

  • Queen of the Galaxy

A great and campy late sixties sci fi flick about a pretty girl sent around the stars to find a man named Duran Duran. Great sets and costumes flush out the real story of the girl going from a safe, sterile existence back to a more human one. Alot of people view this film as pushing sex too much, but it really doesn't; it is just used as a device to show the growing independance of the girl. Of course some things could have been done better but overall it's a classic film in the vien of A Clockwork Orange, Soylent Green and lots of other movies of that time that were artistic while pushing the envelope.

  • Very Campy, special effects aren't up to todays

I saw it when it first came out, but didn't remember much except the burned out torture machine. After watching it I realized it is set in a supposed to be enlighten future. Seeing Barbarella experience sexual pleasure for the first time was interesting. The blind Angel was a beautiful man, she thanks him in her unique way for saving her life. If you like fantasy and Sci Fi campy movies this one is very interesting. As others have said, Jane Fonda was a very beautiful and very young woman at the time of this movie. Her acting has become more mature and stronger. I don't judge political views when reviewing this film.

  • Barbarella DVD

This is like the Queen of the campy farout 60's movie era. And oh my, Jane Fonda in little to no clothing? Good Heavenes arent you shocked! (Not) Space girl gets lost, space girl finds weirdo friends and an angel, space girl gets captured, space girl gets freed, space girl kinds saves the day. I shouldnt say this but, If your from the 60's era and have left over LSD rotting away, take it before watching. Its a whole new experience. Its campy, its got funny moments, its weird, its psychedelic, its full on fantasy space, its a bit cheesy and all in all, just fun.

  • Jane Fonda's Regret-The World's Favorite

A wonderful film based on the French Comic Book. Duran Duran gave his name to the band of the same name. Barbarella has so many adventures and learns about "Making Love" without the pill. Not the one you think! Angles fly and even Marcel Marceau SPEAKS. Invisible keys go missing, And Love and Goodness concurs all! A Must See for all humans
