Product Information

Two fighter pilots have become close friends while fighting for the RAF in World War II. When one of the fighter pilots dies, the survivor develops a relationship with his dead friend's wife. Boris Sagal's combat film is memorable for its incredible footage of the Mosquito bomber planes used by the British Royal Air Force. The final sequence has also been sighted as an influence on George Lucas' Death Star sequences in the original STAR WARS.

Amazing D.H. Mosquito in action .
Excellent 1968 color movie based on "Operation Jericho " a famous ww2 RAF sortie attaching a prison in enemy territory ,breaching the outer perimeter wall so prisoners detained by the Nazi were able to escape and also bombing the main building on the 2nd run killing a good number of Nazi personnel . In this movie there are at least 4 real D.H. Mosquitos (the famous " wooden wonder" ) flying and performing . Not computer generated like in most of the modern movies . Mosquito Squadron
This is an interesting, on the British pilots and how they felt like. When they have to bomb an enamy target. The heartbreaking point Allied soldiers are put in Harms Way. Then how the Squadron feels about bombing of the Target. The see the mission. Oh ya, there's a monkey wrench to. There's also a love affair develops, that makes the mission more intense. A MUST SEE

I had heard of this movie and have been looking for it to rent for a long time. I had also heard that the airplanes were constructed from wood as apposed to the normal sheet metal. I still don’t know if this was true, but the story about how the 'bouncing Betty' was conceived and the skill the pilots had to develope was very interesting. Of course, watching the flying parts was great. I found the movie by chance at http://stores.ebay.com/DeepestDiscountDVD and am looking forward to finding other old movies on DVD’s. Get 633 Squadron Instead!
I've always enjoyed Ilya Kuriaken. I'd never seen him in a movie and I stumbled across this. PU! He was barely awake throughout the entire film. And when he wasn't dozing off, he was whining. Crikey. Don't waste waste your time or money.

"B" movie. Dull, and uninspiring. Poor overall.
This movie was just fair. The story was rather dull, and action sequences not very good. David McCallum looked more like a Nazi, than he did an allied pilot. Not very believable. Music was rather campy, as is common in films of this era. This is a "B" movie to be sure. 633 Squadron would be a much better bet if you are looking for Mosquito bomber movie, although the effects in that movie were not the best either, but it is a much better movie overall. Shame, the Mosquito was one of the most beautiful, and advanced planes of world war II. It deserves a better film than this.This movie was just fair. The story was rather dull, and action sequences not very good. David McCallum looked more like a Nazi, than he did an allied pilot. Not very believable. This is a "B" movie to be sure. 633 Squadron would be a much better bet if you are looking for Mosquito bomber movie, although the effects in that movie were not the best either, but it is a much better movie overall.
