Product Information

The notoriously lazy orange cat turns out to have quite an active imagination, and collected here are three specials connected thematically in their focus on Garfield's fantasies. First, in BABES AND BULLETS, a bored Garfield discovers a trench coat in a closet and becomes Sam Spayed, Private Eye. Tanya O'Tabby is the recent widow of a 23-year-old college professor, and she comes to him for help in solving the mystery of her husband's murder. Then, in GARFIELD'S FELINE FANTASIES, Garfield and his intrepid sidekick Odie travel the world, battling spies, counter-spies, and villains, to find the stolen Banana of Bombay. The sacred fruit is the symbol of all that is funny, and without it laughter as we know it will end. This special was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program. Finally, in GARFIELD: HIS NINE LIVES, Garfield traces his various incarnations, from "cave cat" to "space cat." In the time between, he invents jazz, works in silent films, and participates in a lab experiment that goes awry.

    Great Memories!

    They don't make cartoons like they used to. I always loved grumpy ole Garfield and hearing Lou Rawls sing. I remember being so excited that a Garfield special was coming on in the evening. I'd be helping my mother put away dishes then I'd hear the catchy tune play and Lou Rawls begin to sing and I'd have to make a mad dash out to the living room. I became a fan of Lou Rawls all because of Garfield. I've recently collected all of the Garfield specials. My absolute favorite is Garfields Nine Lives. I'd laugh at most, cry at 'Diana's Piano', and be mad how the scientists treated Garfield in 'The Lab Animal'. Regardless of the emotions I'd feel (mainly giddy with happiness) from these skits, I loved them all! Definitely brings back great childhood memories.

    Plot Spoiler's

    Garfield's fantasy life is beginning to take over his life, in a Walter Mitty-esque fashion. He slips into a fantasy world at any moment, sometimes without warning. In one of these fantasies, which composes the bulk of the special, he is Lance Sterling, a mix of James Bond and Indiana Jones. With his associate Slobberjob (Odie, who has entered the fantasy with Garfield), he travels to exotic locations like Istanbul, Paris, and the Amazon rainforest to find something they call "The Banana of Bombay," and lay claim to it before his enemy "Fat Guy" gets to it first. On the way they meet a mysterious Moldavian lady named Nadia, who has plans of her own.

    Great piece of work

    Very entertaining i don't i ever saw babes and bullets i must have been confusing it with feline fantasies but i loved it

    Worth a view.

    Missed out on this DVD when it first came out. Love the old Garfield cartoons.

    FOR ANY GARFIELD LOVER

    this review is for the consumer. I bought this video because "9 lives" is uniquely different from any other Garfield made. it had a collaboration of artist and touching stories, i'd buy it again and again just to give it as a gift. love it altogether for this one vid alone, the other 2 stories are just the bonus!
