Product Information

Teen actress Anne Hathaway gives an endearing performance in Garry Marshall's delightful Disney comedy, THE PRINCESS DIARIES. Assisted by such seasoned pros as Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo (a Marshall regular), Hathaway shines here in her first major film role. She plays Mia, a high school misfit who has resigned herself to social invisibility. Mia and her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo), are outcasts. While Lilly relishes the role, Mia just wishes a cute popular boy she likes, Josh (Erik von Detten), would notice her. Mia's life changes dramatically when her grandmother (Andrews) contacts her and Mia finds out she is heir to the throne of Genovia, a small European country between France and Spain. The klutzy, socially awkward girl doesn't think she's up to the job, but she agrees to be coached in regal manners by her grandmother before deciding if she wants to become a princess. Marshall (PRETTY WOMAN) is clearly in his element directing this light, charming teen comedy. Andrews, perfectly cast as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, makes her character seem both imperious and caring. Hathaway's performance and the presence of teen pop star Mandy Moore assure that young girls, in particular, will enjoy the film.

    ROYAL FUN!

    Featues actors: Julie Andews, Anne Hathaway & Hector Elizondo Rating:G Shy and nerdy Mia Thermopolis, whose only wish is to get through her school day unnoticed and without causing herself any embarrassment, is about to get the surprise of a lifetime. Enter Mia's estranged grandmother who just happens to be the Queen of Genovia! Mia isn't overjoyed to discover she is a princess and does not attend her 'princess lessons' without a fight. To top it off, Mia has only three weeks to learn how to act and look like royalty. Her comical transformation plays out on screen with much laughter, fun, and sheer enjoyment. On a more serious note, Mia also finds herself hiding from the media, dealing with jealous classmates and trying to thwart a plot to take over Genovia. This is such a cute movie, ...

    Disappointed.

    I was expecting a brand new movie. I got something used without a case. I was bummed and irritated there was no case. I pulled it out, and I was covered in scratches. I can't even get it to play.

    The Princess Diaries D.V.D

    I love this movie. ❤️ The Princess Diaries is a nostalgic part of my childhood and now I'm happy to get to relive it anytime I want :) The movie came quickly and it plays perfectly!
