Integrating with a variety of systems, Avid Nitris DX hardware works with Media Composer, Symphony, and NewsCutter to capture and edit both analog and file-based materials. The Nitris hardware edits both standard and high-definition materials working alongside your host computer, whether it is a PC or a Mac. Use a wide variety of supported input/output (I/O) connections to download, store, and upload information, including from cameras, decks, and other devices through a serial digital interface (SDI) connection. SDI includes component video, composite video, and S-video connections, making the Nitris hardware compatible with a wide range of older video devices. Audio connection options include AES/EBU, SDI, XLR, ADAT, S/PDIF, and other audio connection formats. To top it off, the device offers high-definition monitoring through its HDMI connection. Using an intelligent architecture, the Avid Nitris DX hardware provides a single high bandwidth to work on your projects and eliminates bottlenecks, allowing you to edit in real time. The Nitris hardware also allows you to edit with a variety of the latest HD codecs, including HDV, XDCAM, AVC-Intra, and DNxHD. Furthermore, the hardware works great with the Media Composer software to take advantage of all that your computer’s CPU and GPU offer. The equipment also allows for voiceover recording using the audio punch-in input. In addition to Media Composer, the Avid Nitris DX hardware works with both Symphony and NewsCutter software. Future proof, the device allows you to upgrade to and handle future technologies due to its scalability. You can purchase a standalone unit, great for those who might already own any of the compatible software. You can also install optional modules, giving you access to real-time broadcast-quality encoding using Avid DNxHD. The hardware allows you to edit in 3D with real-time, full-frame stereoscopic capabilities using Media Composer 6 or Symphony 6. After processing your video, output the final product using Universal Mastering, a part of the Symphony software, to output multiple masters from just one source, including HD. In addition, integrate such ancillary data as close captioning and AFD into your broadcast workflows. Easily integrating audio using the video satellite option, Pro Tools editor allows you to sync Avid video sequences with your audio sessions. Digital audio capabilities include eight channels of AES/EBU I/O on a DB25 connection. Some other digital audio capabilities include eight channels of embedded SD-SDI audio I/O, 16 channels of embedded HD-SDI audio I/O, eight channels of optical ADAT I/O, and two channels of optical S/PDIF I/O. For analog audio, the hardware offers four channels of balanced XLR I/O, two channels of RCA audio input, and two channels of 1/4 inch TRS output. Some of the items that come with the Avid Nitris DX hardware include the PCIe Host Interface Board, allowing you to connect to your computer easily. This includes software like Media Composer, EDL Manager, and FilmScribe and various production suites like Avid DVD by Sony, Avid FX, and SmartSound Sonicfire Pro, among others. The hardware also comes in a lightweight and durable case that you can easily rack-mount with your other equipment or place directly on your desktop for easier access.
