Celebrating the rich musical heritage of the Romani people, the high-spirited concert film GYPSY CARAVAN follows a handful of wandering musicians on their eclectic tour across the United States. Five bands with diverse nationalities and styles (spanning flamenco, jazz, and folk) joined together for this unique traveling show, intent on introducing the Roma culture and passion for performance to enthusiastic North American audiences. Shot in part by documentary legend Albert Maysles, the feature includes an in-depth interview with actor Johnny Depp about his love of the Gypsy music sound.

    Wonderful, full of life, a great tribute to music and dance

    Caravan follows the show across the continent and features the best of the Gypsy bands. If you like this one, find Latcho Drum, another great film.

    Gypsy Caravan

    This is definitely an interesting film for those who appreciate diffenrent cultures. Being a Flamenco lover I really enjoyed the story behind the people and the individual stories of the Gypsy way of life. I was most impressed by the life testimony of the Spanish Flamenco singer and I wish her lyrics were fully instead of partially translated as she sang the most touching Flamenco song while giving praise to God. I understood what she sang and it brought me to tears.

    the 1st time i watched it, i cried. bless the gypsies, may you travel well.

    i bought this dvd because of the decent price, but also because i have seen it before, and as a man of a sub-culture in america that has been discriminated against, i felt very in touch with the movie and its teachings because of how the gypsies have been treated. the music and culture are wonderful to listen to and i obviously felt it was worth watching again.
