The Macintosh release of Battlefield 1942: Deluxe Edition contains ported versions of from EA Games' popular online shooter series: Battlefield 1942 and its first expansion pack, Road to Rome.<br><br>Battlefield 1942 is designed to represent nearly every major factor in WWII to some extent, featuring all four branches of the military, conflicts in the Pacific and European theaters, and the opportunity to play as an Axis or Allied force. Single players enter the game as noncommissioned "grunts," but progress in rank through successful missions to command full platoons of soldiers and eventually fleets of planes and ships. The online multiplayer game is designed to support up to 64 players in the same 3D-rendered battles. In either mode of play, learning to coordinate attacks in the midst of the chaos can be an important key to victory.<br><br>The first expansion pack, Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome focuses on the conflict's Italian and Sicilian campaigns. It adds six new maps, including locations based on the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino, as well as Operation Husky. Eight new vehicles include German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engine fighter-bombers, an Italian torpedo boat, and British and German tanks. Two new forces, the French legionnaires and Italian military, are featured in this add-on as well.

Aspyr Media's Battlefield 1942 Deluxe Edition
I heard soo much about this shooter I was somewhat excited to get the game. Many good things were said by the PC world about this game and maybe I set my expectations too high for the game but in this case was somewhat let down when I finally got the game into my posession. Dont get me wrong, the porting of the game is spectacular. Aspyr for once is not to blame for any issues with this game as usually it came down to the porting of the game. But you can tell that they took a long time to perfect this game. And perfect from the PC version they did. Pro's: 1) Big multipllayer games 2) respawning (if you are into that} 3) You can fly planes and get into many vehicles as well as mounted guns ( Best part of the game ) Con's: 1) Not really a vivid plot to the game, other then the game ... Much of the plot is left up to the imagination. 2) The view from the player is not that great, something about it does not feel right. Compare the game from this to Call of Duty and you will see what I am talking about. Call of Duty has a way more realistic feel of the WWII game The only thing that Aspyr did wrong was the listings for the min requirements. Yes, the game will play on the requirements listed below, but plays soo bad, it wouldn't even be good to mention here as it would just get up the hopes of people getting the game for their old Dual G4 towers. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Operating System: Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later CPU Type & Speed PowerPC G4/G5, 867 MHz or faster Memory: 256 MB RAM Hard Disk Space: 1.6 GB Graphics: 3D Graphics Acceleration required (ATI Radeon 7500/nVidia GeForce 2 or better) 32 MB of VRAM Other: DVD drive required to install and play Trust me, you want a G5 or higher on this game. Without it you are going to be stuck with the only fun gaming being single player, and even that wont be that great.
