Product Information

Director Abel Ferrara (BAD LIEUTENANT) brings his usual blend of brilliance, sex, and brutality to this paranoid sci-fi tale. Gabrielle Anwar stars as Marti, a teenager who moves to a remote southern military base with her EPA inspector father (Terry Kinney), stepmom (Meg Tilly), and little brother, Andy (Reilly Murphy). To say poor Marti finds life on the base strange is a pretty drastic understatement; before she can even unpack her bags, alien pods start replacing her friends and family with dehumanized replicas. A pod even tries to get her when she's taking a bath. Through it all, Ferrara's surreal, off-kilter direction creates a creepy mood out of ordinary blank landscapes and expressions, and the film never lags, creating an ever-mounting storm of menace. The special effects feature some creepily beautiful imagery of human shapes being generated inside the pods. Forest Whitaker, R. Lee Ermey, Billy Wirth, and Christine Elise costar. With a pounding score and entrancing photography by Bojan Bazelli, this fast-moving adaptation should please fans of the genre, regardless of their faithfulness to the 1956 original.

    It was trueto the story line.

    Keep in mind it's in the B movie horror genre, but it is done very, very well. Much better than the late 70s version. The original Body Snatchers of the 50s was an honest product of the times, well done and also beats the second version by a mile. The third version was fun and a bit scary. "Where ya gonna go? Where ya gonna run? Where ya gonna hide, when there's no one left like you?" (approximate quotation)

    Alien pods replace humans. Can few remainning humans stop them before they are found out by emotionless aliens?

    Very entertaining movie, much better than the original invasion of the body snatchers.

    The 90's Body Snatchers

    Body snatchers the invasion continues, was a great movie. Starring Meg tilly as Carol Malone (the stepmother) Gabrielle Anwar as Marti Malone, Terry Kinney as Marti's father, and Forest Whitaker as Major Collins. The movie is set on a military base, where Marti's father is sent to work for a few months as an assignment for the E.P.A. The movie goes along with the basic plot of aliens trying to take over the human race, but it is different then the newer verion with Nicole Kidman. In this version you can become infected when you go to sleep, whereas in the newer version you must become infected and then your transformed when you fall asleep. This version is definitely worth watching. All of the actors and actresses gave wonderful preformances.

    Yet another take off on Rob Heinlien's book

    I liked the fact that the movie pays tribute to the story, but does not copy the other movies directly. It's a story of the people in a different setting and how they deal with the world being taken over by these pod creatures. I bought it because I am a huge fan of Robert A. Heinlien. What I did not like about it, was that this movie seemed to be mostly taking place at a military base/camp in a rural town. I felt that there should be a greater global feeling to the movie as was in the original. Rod.
