  • Despite a couple of silly moments, a great classic film A must see for fans

Godzilla Raids Again is the sequel to the original released one year after the release of the first movie, and in many ways one of the most important additions to the franchise, as it sets the tone that would follow through out the rest of the whole series. The first thing it did was it introduced a second monster for Godzilla to fight, Anguirus. Anguirus doesn't have any special powers like Godzilla's atomic breath, but he's a worthy enemy for the king of the monsters. The first movie did very good job at making Godzilla look huge, with lighting techniques, camera speeds, angles, etc. In this movie, when the two monsters are fighting, the camera speed is very fast, almost jittery at times. I makes the epic battles between two giant monsters seem far less intense, almost comical like an ...

  • Great old Gojira (Godzilla) movie.

I had been trying to find this follow-on "Gojira" (a.k.a Godzilla) movie for years. This is the original Japanese version with subtitles. It is a great time capsule of Japan in the late 1950's. The story introduces a new monster for a brief part of the movie....but most of it is about Gojira (Godzilla). If you like this genre of 1950's monster movies (like I do)....this is a great addition to any collection. Enjoy!

  • It's a worthy DVD release. Fans should be quite pleased.

Here we have the second of the legendary Godzilla series in print, courtesy of Classic Media, for the first time in years. Until now, American fans have had to settle for the Americanized version, which was incredibly sloppy with very confused editing. In a dire need to fill every second of dead space, the roar of Aguirus was used, even if Godzilla was on screen. And because of the inability to secure all the rights, the name and overall tone of the film was severely changed. Onto the product. Obviously, the best thing any fan could hope for is to see the original version. It’s definitely a much more flattering version of the film than its heavily edited version. The actual video quality isn’t too shabby, especially considering that it’s an old film. The audio quality is reasonable ...

  • Its the second Godzilla title, so the acting special effects are what they are, but it had a really good bonus feature.

Love the packaging! I'm working on getting the whole Godzilla collection and I would love having them all look like this. The movie felt like it was brand new.

  • Godzilla Raids again DVD 2007.

This was the follow up Godzilla movie to "Goira"(1954),which was renamed "Godzilla King of the Monsters" in the USA,and in which scenes with Raymond Burr were inserted. This movie was originally called "Gigantis the Fire Monster" due to a mix up with the copyrights of the original film, but was quickly retitled "Godzilla Raids again" when this was sorted. This isn't by any stretch of the imagination as good as the first Godzilla, and the Japanese actors seem even more stupid than normal.Needless to say Godzilla lives to fight another day. The DVD is enhanced by an audio commentary, and both the American, and original Japanese versions and the quality of the film, like the majority of Black & White films,is extremely good. Finally,if you are a Godzilla fan and by some chance you haven,t got ...
