Product Information

Some secrets just can't stay buried, in the brilliant new Lucas Davenport thriller from the number-one New York Times - bestselling author. "One of the best," said Kirkus Reviews of Storm Prey . "Razor-sharp dialogue, a tautly controlled pace and enough homicides for a miniseries. What more could fans want?" A house demolition provides an unpleasant surprise for Minneapolis-the bodies of two girls, wrapped in plastic. It looks like they've been there a long time. Lucas Davenport knows exactly how long. In 1985, Davenport was a young cop with a reputation for recklessness, and the girls' disappearance was a big deal. His bosses ultimately declared the case closed, but he never agreed with that. Now that he has a chance to investigate it all over again, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: It wasn't just the bodies that were buried. It was the truth.

  • Standard Sanford Style -

Since Sanford has taken Davenport out of the swinging singles life and made him a family man now - Virgil Flowers seems to be Sandford's golden boy now. I would love to see him bring Davenport back in the vital, women loving, playboy cop that he used to be. Sandford's novels seem to have lost their luster without Davenport's violent nature mixed in - Regardless I love his style of writing bringing the reader inside the murderer's mind. All is books are good - his older prey series books you couldn't put down. He should rethink his characters - Virgil is not Davenport and never will be.

  • BURIED PREY: A Cold Case Turns Hot in This Masterful John Sandford Whodunit

What's not to love about a nail-biting police procedural wherein the killer makes part of his living by selling on eBay? And the author is so hip to eBay, he even knows what OBO means! John Sandford's "Prey" series stars tough, smart, sharp-dressing Lucas Davenport, a one-time police detective who's climbed the ladder to top cop at the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension. When his very first case as a plainclothes detective turns from cold to hot, it's time to solve the nightmare puzzle that has haunted him for 25 years. "Buried Prey" combines Sandford's trademark masterful plotting and engrossing character studies with a fascinating look back at police work before computers, the internet, and DNA. Moving seamlessly between past and present, the author steadily ratchets up the tension to an ...

  • Interesting but not up to prior Prey novels.

I've read all of the Prey books and I anxiously await for the next one to be published however this one was my least favorite. It seemed like the book didn't get interesting until Davenport re-started the investigation for the girls killer. It took too long for the author to give the readers the background on the case. It's not a bad read, just not as good as most of Sanford's work.

  • Davenport is in trouble again.

I have not read this yet but I know it will be good. Since Sandford wrote it. To me every book of his is wonderful....I'm a fan. I read them in order if I can find the ones I am missing. He does refer back to past books. Another character I can mention is a nun Lucas has a friend who helps solve his current crimes, when needed.
