Great full frame digital camera
If you are looking for a Canon digital body that can deliver high quality pictures, the 5D Mk 1 is hard to beat. With its full frame sensor and a decent lens on the front, you will be able to produce professional standard images. There are many available these days as people trade up to the feature packed Mk2, but if you dont need HD video and 21 Meg images, grab yourself a bargain. Only downside from my point of view is the lack of built in flash, but you can get a EX flash pretty cheaply too, so not big deal. A must have for any professional/keen amateur
Having been an avid photographer for a long time and recently having taken a more keen interest and undertaking some extra courses, I found my 400D was not giving me quite the results I wanted. On one course, my tutor told me that when I come to upgrade, I should upgrade the camera, not my lens which, at the time, was worth more than the body!! As a professional, he suggested the 5D. I researched hard and contemplated at length but ultimately felt this was the way to go. My favorite genre is landscape and therefore the full frame sensor is perfect. The range of ISO is fantastic and produces good results even at the high end without too much noise. Although the weight is a little more than my 400D, you don't need muscles to carry it for long periods! The 12.8 mp picture quality is ... Terrific camera - not faultless - but its IQ wins the day.
After using a 7d for quite a while and enjoying its fantastic speed and amazing focus system, but not being too fond of its inherent noise in some shots, I noticed on Flickr that a high number of the shooters whose work I admired used full frame cameras like the 5d - usually the mk2. I did some reading up on this, and concluded that the full sized sensor seemed to provide owners with image quality not obtainable in any crop body. So I decided to test the breed for myself but not to splash out right off on a Mk2, I'd find a Mk1 and if I liked it, would replace it with a new Mk2. And that's how it panned out. Kind of. Got a very nice example, was immediately amazed at the super quality of the images that appeared to need little sharpening to look exquisite. I have had to clean the sensor ... I have had to clean the sensor three times now, as it seems prone to show dust spots on areas of flat tone like blue sky. Soft round spots. Accentuated by using lenses stopped well down. Not something I do very often, using mainly midrange apertures where lenses tend to perform best. Even so, some pix did show these spots, which annoyed to no small degree. Its user interface is primitive and clunky. Especially there's no auto ISO, and ISO isn't visible beside the meter. The back screen is a bit dim and a bit small and a bit low res, but it's not a new model any more so I don't feel this is legit crit - it is what it is, and what it is is a brilliant picture making tool. It may have "only" 12.8mp, and look sick on paper beside the spec of the Mk2, but put images together from both cameras and your eye won't find it all that easy to distinguish between them without peeping at pixels.. However, the meter display is a bit too dim for easy use, which is a bad fault to my mind. But if you get one, you're going to love its images and, I suspect, be very loath to get rid of it even after you upgraded to the Mk2... it's like that. Grows on you. I can get my money back on it pretty easily I'm sure but even if I lost slightly it did exactly what I wanted it to do, ie showed me the IQ available to FF shooters. Meanwhile it's still here, and not because I haven't been able to sell it. It's still here, because - I like it. Also like my mk2 better, but it cost nearly three times as much. It's a great intro to FF shooting!

Canon 5D a lovely camera which I shall keep for a long time.
I bought the Canon 5D as an upgrade to my 450D. Although it is heavier than the 450D I have not found the weight a problem. I have not used the camera greatly as yet but love it. I am getting very good images and there is nothing about it that I don't like. I am using a Canon 28-135mm lens which I am also very happy with, a great combination, both items bought on e-bay.

Best full-frame digital camera deal
This camera has a few cons: - No autoISO; - No Liveview; - Max ISO of 3200; - High noise at high ISO; But it's a killer deal if you want to enter the full-frame world without breaking the bank. And the images it produces at low ISO are truly great. Tonality and color reproduction are excellent.
