The Star Wars universe comes to life in Star Wars: X-Wing. Flying for the Rebel Alliance against the evil Galactic Empire, you pilot X-wings, Y-wings and A-wings through many missions as you advance in rank. Missions range in difficulty, featuring everything from the simplicity of destroying enemy frigates to the complexity of defeating a Star Destroyer, or even the Death Star itself. The training grounds and historical missions will help you hone your skills as you prepare for your three tours of duty. From the cockpit you must monitor your shield and laser power, pilot your ship, and of course, blow away Imperial ships such as TIE fighters, TIE bombers and TIE interceptors. You'll even encounter the occasional Star Destroyer! Communications are possible with your wingman, as you tell him to cover you or to attack/ignore a target. A camera feature is also included, which enables you to replay your dogfights and watch from a third-person perspective. With the full-screen cinematic sequences, you might just think you've stepped into Star Wars movie. X-Wing was a best-selling game of 1993 and the recipient of many awards. It spawned several sequels, such as Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance. It is available on CD-ROM with improved graphics and sound in Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM, as well as in compilations such as Star Wars: X-Wing Collector Series.

one of the greatest pc games ever
This game changed computer gaming at the time it came out. It was the greatest flying simulator there was. This game gives you total control of an x-wing, y-wing or a-wing. Basically you get to fly missions as part of a campaign but you fly it how you want and you have total control of your ship. This game was way ahead of it time. Without this game there was no Tiefighter which was the highest rated game ever by PC Gamer. If the price is right buy this one you wont be disappointed even today.This game changed computer gaming at the time it came out. It was the greatest flying simulator there was. Awesome game
I remember playing this game with my dad back when I was 13 years. It was a great game then and still a great game now. Decided to buy this because of my childhood memory.

It attempts to simulate the experience of combat in the A-wing, X-wing, and Y-wing starfighters of the Rebel Alliance The game is set in 3 linear timeline sets of missions. Each mission has 12 parts to it. The game starts off before the battle of Yavin and ends there. :) A New Ally" — The search for new Rebellion allies and the Imperial campaign against the Rebels. In these missions the player recreates the role of Luke Skywalker. The inconsistency with the player's previous role as Keyan Farlander is simply ignored. I loved the fact that you could attack anything in this game. I had personally taken down Star Destroyer's in my X-wing and A-Wing. There were even bulletin boards and contests where you could log on and show screen shots of your triumphs. I spent *many* an hour wasting time on this lovable game! 5/5 a gem for it's age.
