  • Best True-Crime Book I've Read

This is the best True-Crime book I’ve read! Normally, I’m not very interested in True-Crime books. The ones I’d read previously were cold, clinical, and just bald lists of the crime-scenes and facts; some provided little background. This one intrigued me to read since it’s about serial murders that occurred in which I grew up and live, it was so recently solved, and the serial murderer appeared so average and unlikely. Ann Rule injects a very human element into the account, something much-needed to provide any interest and empathy/sympathy with the reader. It was very interesting to learn about the background of the Green River Task Force and all the law-enforcement personnel involved, and to see slices of their viewpoint. Additionally, I appreciated the time and trouble Ms. Rule ...

  • It is great reading!!!

I live in Burien, Wa (by Seatac Airport) and have heard of Ann Rule but have never read her books. My mother graduated from a Highline College course and Ann Rule happened to be there 4 or 5 years ago and she spoke on stage because of her daughter also graduated that year. I also saw her at our Burien Fred Meyer while she was signing books but never paid too much attention, because of the long line. I bought this because I love true crime books and it is the best book I have bought so far. I have watched the shows about Gary Ridgeway, and seen the pictures of all the victims, but in her book, she really makes you "know" the victims like they are you friends, family, or the girl next door, whom they are and they should have never been taken from their families. I like how she gives them all ...

  • Another good Ann Rule book

Ann Rule is pretty much the only true crime writer I read because she humanizes the people she writes about but doesn't idealize them. Most of the victims of the green river killer were teenage prostitutes but Ann never portrays them as second class citizens but as real people that had family and/or friends that loved them. This is another excellent book, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of her other books. Probably because there were so many people in the story (due to the excessive number of victims) that I didn't connect to the victims like I do when her books are about only one victim or family of victims. I highly recommend this book or any other book by Ann Rule.

  • Ann Rule - Fabulous author!

I've yet to read an Ann Rule book I didn't like! Well written, facutal, the type of book that really 'draws' you in. I thought I would never be into 'crime' style novels (true crime) until my Mom loaned be a few of her Ann Rule books a while back and now I am hooked! I recommend this Author to those who like true crime/crime, mystery, suspense, etc.

  • Good read--detailed, compassionate and interestingly written.

Bought this book as one way of learning about this area of the world, since I live here now--also because I have never explored the genre of true crime and I heard that Ann Rule was a good writer. She is; I appreciated the level of detail, the compassion for the victims, and that it was not focused on gory pictures or sensational writing. Definitely planning to read more of her books.
