Item(s) arrived within specified time. The main character (Powers Boothe) is one of my favorite actors. It took me several tries to find this video for the right price. Sellers from overseas are asking "an arm and a leg" for the same exact copies. It only meant that free enterprise (Laissez Faire) is alive and well in America and of course, we have plenty to choose from different vendors, private party sellers, small/big companies, etc. Along with these dvd's I also purchased "Mike Hammer the complete episodes." One of the many t.v. cop shows that I used to watch during the 1980's. To make the story short, classic videos like these certainly gives you the pleasure of watching them...over and over and over...again.Item(s) arrived within specified time. Philip Marlowe - Private Eye
Phillip "Hollywood's the kind of town where they stick a knife in your back and then have you arrested for carrying a concealed weapon." and it only gets better from there. I believe this is the best film rendition of Phillip Marlowe available, period. Powers Boothe absolutely nails the character and the scripts are well done from Chandler stories. Technically the video is pretty good but the sound quality is only fair. I think these must have been transferred from tape rather than film. There are 2 Marlowe sets available. A 2 disc set that covers season 1 and a 3 disc set with all 11 episodes. Definitely Worth the View.
Fairly rare and hard to find. Philip Marlowe Private Eye was an HBO venture back in their early days so many of us fans of the genre missed out on seeing it. Unlike some other recent Marlowe movies, this one is set in the era that the stories were written with vintage cars, clothes, hairstyles, and attitudes. A lot of time was spent on making this as authentic as possible much like the A&E version of Nero Wolfe. This came first.Fairly rare and hard to find. Great Marlowe, great adaptions of Chandler's tales.
I've wanted this series for a long time so it was great to finally get it. Powers Boothe is a great Marlowe and the show is beautifully done. Excellent adaptions of Chandler's short stories.

A must-have for Marlowe fans
Powers Boothe was born to play Marlowe. Sets, cars, wardrobe, acting, atmosphere - everything is spot-on. A few episodes have a bad sound transfer - but you'll live. Maybe one day they'll reissue and deal with the phasing in "The King In Yellow", but until then, this is the only way to own the complete 2-season "Philip Marlowe Private Eye" television show in all its glory. Worth every penny!
